Watershed Outreach Coordinator

The Watershed Outreach Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Riparian Restoration Team Coordinator to assist the Watershed Conservation Resource Center (WCRC) in achieving its mission of protecting, conserving, and restoring natural resources using a watershed approach. The Watershed Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for communication, community outreach, customer service, research, and content creation to support the organization's mission and effectively engage stakeholders. This is a permanent, full-time, salaried position.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities
1- Outreach
· Coordinate with WCRC management and other staff to develop and implement outreach strategies and programs for various project and organizational needs.
· Assist staff with developing and coordinating project & program outreach events
o Development, scheduling, advertising, and materials
o Event documentation including summaries and tracking metrics
· Coordinate and develop newsletter content, press releases, and other materials
· Assist with the WCRC website content and updates
· Develop social media plan, manage social media accounts, and track metrics
· Assist WCRC staff in developing and coordinating landowner contracts.
· Assist the Executive Director and staff with The River Commons including managing the River Coalition, programing, trainings, and tours and other assignments as needed
· Help to strengthen the WCRC's presence in the community and curate creative materials/content to connect to the public
· Develop and plan fundraising events and efforts
· Coordinate with WCRC staff to conduct native plant sale
2- Other responsibilities
· Represent WCRC at public meetings or community events as needed
· Prepare and distribute meeting notifications, scheduling meetings, agenda development, prepare meeting minutes, and meeting follow-up.
· Perform other duties aligned with WCRC's programmatic and operational goals.
· Work with restoration project managers and engineers to assist with stream restoration activities as needed
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills
· Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, environmental science, ecology, or a relevant natural science degree, watershed management, environmental education, or a closely related field
· At least three years' relevant work experience in the field of environmental education, communications, public relations, and/or a related field
· The applicant must be operate a vehicle and have a valid driver's license
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel & Word and project tracking tools (e.g., MS Project or MS Teams, Trello, AirTable, Asana, EnABLE)
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Experience with virtual meeting platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
· Report writing experience and ability to document events and track metrics
· Experience working with groups of people or children in an outdoor setting
· Ability to work in a team environment and independently
· Experience coordinating volunteers and outreach events
· Interest and enthusiasm for conservation and ecological restoration
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This position requires full-time work at the WCRC offices in Fayetteville, AR. Outdoor event may require exposure to hot and humid conditions, rugged terrain, swift-moving water, ticks and other biting insects, and wildlife. Occasional evening and weekend work hours may be required.
Expected Salary and Benefits
Salary for this position will depend on the qualifications and experience of the selected applicant, but the range is $55,000 - $70,000. Benefits include paid leave time, matching retirement contributions, and paid employee health, vision, and dental insurance.
