SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Underwriting Specialist will evaluate financial statements, creditworthiness, and risk factors to make sound decisions while ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Analyze financial statements, tax returns, credit reports, and business plans to assess borrower risk.
  • Evaluate applications for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with underwriting guidelines.
  • Communicate with the prospect to understand their business and ask any questions in order to make an informed decision.
  • Determine the appropriate credit line, and terms for incoming accounts based on the risk assessment and ensuring adherence to company guidelines.
  • Maintain effective communication with internal stakeholders (sales team, management) and external clients, ensuring all parties are informed of underwriting decisions.
  • Create and modify closing legal documents to finalize account setup and facilitate smooth transfer to the Account Executive assigned.
  • Maintain detailed records and documentation of underwriting decisions.
  • Perform other duties and various special projects as assigned.

JOB REQUIRMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related field preferred, relevant industry experience may be considered in place of degree
  • 4 + years of experience in underwriting
  • Experience in the factoring, asset based lending or financial services industry with a strong understanding of accounts receivable financing required
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, credit analysis and risk assessment methodologies
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail when handling client accounts and data
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and tactfully discuss sensitive information
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills, with the ability to present data and reports effectively
  • Proven ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment to achieve client satisfaction and retention goals

Pay: $50, $65,000.00 per year
