Director, Government Relations

Full-time
Description
At Tarrant Area Food Bank (TAFB), government relations isn't theoretical—it directly shapes whether families, seniors, and children across our community have access to nutritious food. We don't just respond to policy; we help influence it in service of our neighbors.
We're seeking a bold, strategic, and highly independent Government Relations Director to lead advocacy and public policy efforts at the local, state, and federal levels. This role is built for a leader who wants real ownership, trusted access to decision-makers, and the ability to turn policy into tangible impact.
Why This Role Is Different
- Your work directly affects food access for thousands of people across Tarrant County
- You'll operate with significant autonomy and executive-level trust
- You'll help shape policy strategy—not just execute someone else's agenda
- You'll represent a highly respected, mission-driven organization in high-stakes policy conversations
- You'll collaborate across communications, development, and programs to connect policy to real outcomes
- Own and execute TAFB's government relations and advocacy strategy aligned with our mission and policy priorities
- Serve as TAFB's primary point of contact with elected officials, legislative staff, and government agencies
- Monitor and analyze legislation, budgets, and regulations—and translate them into clear action
- Represent TAFB in coalitions, policy discussions, and high-impact meetings
- Lead grassroots, grasstops, and faith-based advocacy efforts
- Prepare senior leaders for meetings with policymakers and government officials
- A strategic, decisive leader who thrives in complexity and takes ownership of outcomes
- A strong relationship builder with bipartisan credibility
- A persuasive communicator who can simplify complex policy issues
- Someone energized by mission-driven work with measurable community impact
- 8–10 years of experience in government relations, public policy, or legislative affairs
- Experience working with or within legislative offices or government agencies
- Proven success leading advocacy, organizing, or coalition efforts
- Passion for hunger relief, nutrition, anti-poverty, or public health issues
- Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred
? Why TAFB
At TAFB, you'll do work that matters—shaping policy that determines whether food reaches those who need it most. You'll join a values-driven organization committed to LEAD, CARE, RESPECT, and INNOVATE, where your leadership, judgment, and voice truly make a difference.
