Technical Video Host

Job Title: Alarm Industry Veteran turned Smart Home Educator (Content Host)
Location: Remote / Hybrid (Orlando, FL area preferred for studio access, but open to remote for the right home setup) Type: Part-Time / Contract / Project-Based
Who We Are:
is the antidote to the big, predatory alarm companies. We build hardware that liberates old wired security systems (Honeywell, DSC, Ademco, etc.) from expensive monthly contracts and connects them to modern smart home platforms like Home Assistant, SmartThings, and Alexa. We don't sell fear; we sell ownership and automation.
The Role: "The Recovering Installer"
We are looking for a Technical Video Host who has "been there, done that." You are likely a retired or former technician for a major company like ADT, Brinks, or Vivint. You have spent years crawling through attics, fishing wires, and programming keypads. You know the hardware inside and out, but you're tired of the "locked ecosystem" business model.
We need you to be the face of our technical content-the expert who can look into a camera, hold up a multimeter, and explain to a DIY homeowner exactly how to take control of the system you used to install.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
- Be the Authority: Host long-form, deep-dive YouTube videos demonstrating how to install Konnected products (GDO Blaq, Interface Kits, Alarm Panel Pro) onto legacy systems.
- Translate "Installer" to "DIY": Explain concepts like EOL resistors, zone doubling, NC/NO circuits, and low-voltage wiring in a way that makes a novice homeowner feel confident, not confused.
- The "Anti-Sales" Pitch: Use your industry experience to explain why the big companies do things the way they do (proprietary lockouts, long contracts) and validate why Konnected's open approach is superior.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Create specific "how-to" segments on using multimeters, tracing wires, and identifying mystery sensors.
- Bridge the Gap: Help us show customers that the "old junk" on their wall is actually gold—if they hook it up to the right board.
What You Bring (Requirements):
- Deep Legacy Knowledge: You can look at a wiring diagram for a Honeywell Vista 20P or a DSC PowerSeries and know exactly what is going on without Googling it.
- Low Voltage Fluency: You are a master of wire strippers, terminal blocks, and cable management. You know NEC standards and best practices for clean installs.
- On-Camera Confidence: You don't need to be a Hollywood actor, but you need to be able to talk to a lens like you're talking to a customer in their kitchen. Authentic, clear, and trustworthy.
- A "Smart" Mindset: You understand (or are eager to learn) how these old sensors trigger automations in modern platforms like Home Assistant or Samsung SmartThings.
- Bonus: You have your own "horror stories" from the alarm industry and a genuine passion for empowering homeowners to own their own gear.
Why This Gig Rocks:
- No Attics: Do the installs on a workbench in a studio (or your garage). No insulation itch. No heat exhaustion.
- Legacy: Your knowledge won't retire with you. You will be creating the definitive library of documentation that will help tens of thousands of people.
- The Mission: Help us disrupt the industry you spent a career working in.
To Apply: Go ahead and fill out the application here... but if you're really interested in the opportunity, send us a cloud drive link to a 2-minute video of you explaining how a specific alarm component works (or ranting about a specific industry practice) to the email address on our website. We want to see your personality and your expertise.
Pay: $200.00 per day
Work Location: In person
