We are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Correctional Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) with primary experience in Med-Surg/ER to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring that our healthcare staff deliver safe, effective care while meeting all professional and facility requirements.

Responsibilities:
The LVN provides direct nursing care to inmates within a secure correctional inpatient rehabilitation unit. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Physician, the LVN supports the physical and mental rehabilitation of patients recovering from substance use disorders, chronic illness, injury, or surgery. The LVN ensures strict adherence to healthcare protocols while maintaining safety and security within the correctional environment.

Patient Care & Clinical Support

  • Deliver direct nursing care, including administering medications, wound care, and assisting with rehabilitation activities.
  • Monitor vital signs and observe patients for signs of distress, behavioral changes, or complications.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, ambulation, and feeding.
  • Follow care plans developed by RNs, physicians, and therapists.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies and initiate appropriate interventions.

Medication Management

  • Administer medications according to physician orders and facility protocols.
  • Document medication administration accurately and monitor for adverse reactions or side effects.

Rehabilitation Support

  • Support physical and occupational therapy regimens as directed by rehab staff.
  • Reinforce treatment goals and help maintain a structured environment conducive to recovery.
  • Encourage patient compliance with recovery plans and provide education as needed.

Security & Safety Compliance

  • Maintain awareness of surroundings and adhere strictly to correctional facility security protocols.
  • Escort patients to and from medical appointments or rehabilitation sessions when needed.
  • Secure and account for all medical supplies and ensure proper storage of medications and equipment.

Documentation & Communication

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation of patient care and responses.
  • Communicate effectively with RNs, physicians, therapists, and correctional officers.
  • Report changes in patient condition, behavior, or compliance with treatment to appropriate staff.

Infection Control & Hygiene

  • Follow standard precautions and infection control guidelines during all patient interactions.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment within the medical and rehab areas.

Credential Management:

  • Maintain and track credentials for healthcare professionals, including BLS/CPR certification, diplomas, and licenses.
  • Ensure timely renewal of certifications and licenses according to specified timelines.

Training Compliance

  • Coordinate and track required training, including SAMA (Safe Crisis Management) 8 hours annually.

Testing and Screening:

  • Oversee and manage various tests and screenings, including criminal background checks, OIG screenings, and N95 Face Mask Fit Tests.
  • Facilitate and document the results of the UDS (Urine Drug Screen) 12 Panel test as required.

Immunization Management

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with immunization requirements, including HEP B Titers, MMR, Varicella, TB, Flu, and Tdap.
  • Maintain documentation of positive titers and administer boosters as needed.

Health Documentation Oversight:

  • Verify and manage physical health documentation from primary care physicians.
  • Coordinate TB Skin test (Annualy) or Chest X-rays when applicable, valid every 5 years.

Facility Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with facility-specific requirements, including PREA (Prison Rape Elimination Act) Registration and Brochure.

Requirements for HDO (Healthcare Delivery Organization)

  • Verify 1-3 years of experience in the assigned healthcare area.
  • Collect and maintain clear copies of Driver's License and Social Security information.
  • Ensure understanding and adherence to Sharp Disposal, Housing Access Request, and Tattoo Policies.
