Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will work closely with licensed occupational therapists to deliver high-quality patient care across a variety of settings, including skilled nursing facilities, assisted living and home health environments. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in patients' recovery journeys while expanding your clinical skills in diverse healthcare settings.
Responsibilities
- Assist licensed occupational therapists in developing and implementing personalized care plans that address patients' specific needs and goals.
- Support patients in performing activities of daily living (ADLs), such as dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility exercises, to promote independence.
- Provide hands-on therapy interventions for patients across various settings including outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, and home health environments.
- Contribute to the evaluation process by observing patient progress and reporting findings to the supervising therapist.
- Educate patients and their families on therapeutic exercises, adaptive techniques, and safety measures to facilitate ongoing recovery at home or in community settings.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care activities, progress notes, and treatment outcomes in compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including physicians, nurses, physical therapists, and social workers—to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Assist with administrative tasks related to care plans, treatment schedules, and equipment management as needed.
- Uphold safety standards by adhering to infection control protocols and ensuring proper use of therapy equipment.
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) from an accredited program.
- Prior experience working in inpatient hospital settings, skilled nursing facilities, outpatient clinics or home health is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and occupational health principles.
- Experience assisting with ADLs and implementing therapeutic activities for diverse patient populations.
- Familiarity with care planning processes and documentation requirements within healthcare environments.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced settings such as acute care or outpatient clinics while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with healthcare teams and educating patients' families.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $ $39.77 per hour
