PAY RANGE: Admin Salary Range, $123,500 - $194,500

SCHOOL YEAR WORKDAYS: 228 Days

REPORTS TO: Superintendent and/or Deputy Superintendent

SUMMARY:

The Executive Director of Teaching and Learning is a member of Mapleton's Executive Team and has primary responsibility for curriculum, instruction, and educational programing for all students in alignment with the District Instructional Infrastructure Framework and the strategic plan. The Executive Director accelerates learning for every student by advocating for and supporting the people, practices, and policies that drive academic success. The Executive Director leads the development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of instructional programs in the District, and supervises the staff and functions of the Teaching and Learning Department.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master of Arts degree in Curriculum, Teaching and Learning, Educational Leadership, Education Administration, or equivalent.
  • Hold a valid Principal or Administrators license with the Colorado Department of Education.
  • Five years + of experience in building/site administration and instructional leadership.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Five to ten years of progressive experience with highly effective instructional systems including curriculum, instruction, research, assessment, & programming in an environment comprised of diverse student body, sizeable student population of emerging bilinguals, and free and reduced eligible students.
  • Knowledge of Colorado School Law, District Policies, and school reform.
  • Three to five years of central administration experience.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads curriculum development, implementation, and instruction through an equity lens for the district.

  • Develops, with senior leadership, a strategic plan inclusive of goals and strategies to ensure equitable standards-aligned instruction for every student.

  • Directs and evaluates the Teaching and Learning Department inclusive of curriculum and instruction, professional development, gifted services, English as a second language, and Post Secondary Readiness.

  • Delivers written and oral presentations on academic accountability to various stakeholders (i.e., Board of Education, principals, teachers, parents, and community groups).

  • Collaborates with cabinet team to facilitate and plan monthly administrator meetings.

  • Approves departmental budgets and determines allocations for schools, staff, supplies, and materials.

  • Provides leadership development to site supervisors and school leaders. Supervises, coaches, evaluates and provides feedback to department staff and school leaders.

  • Establishes direction for school improvement efforts by monitoring the progress of school performance, student achievement objectives, and academic excellence indicators to align strategies for school improvement.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of District Policy and state law.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS & DIRECTION/GUIDANCE:

This job has supervisory responsibilities and is required to supervise the Teaching and Learning Department and School Principals.
