About the Role
SunnyWhale is hiring a Product Manager for our smart pool equipment product line for residential swimming pools. You will define and execute the product strategy, translate customer and field insights into clear requirements, and work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, data-driven products.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze the full lifecycle of residential pool usage and maintenance, including construction differences, water chemistry, seasonal factors, and safety/compliance requirements.
- Define product requirements: create PRDs, break down features, prioritize functions, set acceptance criteria, and collaborate with engineering on verification tests and key parameters.
- Build a comprehensive boundary-case library and SOPs covering different maintenance methods, regional water qualities, climates, and extreme scenarios (e.g., algae, heavy load, contamination).
- Drive data-based decisions through event tracking, A/B tests, field trials, and beta programs; analyze results and develop iterative roadmaps.
- Stay customer- and field-focused by conducting user visits, collecting feedback, organizing UAT and pilot programs, and validating product performance in real environments.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on residential pool maintenance or usage experience, with strong knowledge of corner cases (e.g., high heat, heavy rain, insects, extreme CYA/FC/ORP/pH/T conditions, equipment faults).
- 3+ years of product management experience in tech companies, with skills in PRDs, MVP definition, and end-to-end hardware product development .
- Strong communication skills and ability to conduct on-site research and experiments when needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Pool Pro or pool equipment technician background, familiar with installation, maintenance, major brands, modifications, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with consumer hardware, IoT, or robotics, and ability to translate physical/environmental factors into product algorithms or control logic.
- Experience running beta programs and UAT, with strong experimental design and issue-resolution ability.
Work Mode
- Remote-friendly role with collaboration across US time zones.
- Occasional on-site visits and product trials as required.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: USD $70,000–$110,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
- Equity: Equity incentives are available.
