Job Title: QC Chemist
Job Description
Join a dynamic contract testing company specializing in the analysis of gases and oils as a QC Chemist. In this role, you will support the laboratory team by conducting various tests and ensuring quality control for a diverse range of products, including petroleum, gases, and alcohol-based soaps and cleaners. You will receive comprehensive training and have the opportunity to work with advanced equipment unique to the region.

Responsibilities

• Receive, examine, and log inbound samples for testing.
• Deliver test samples to the sample staging area.
• Monitor the availability of supplies needed for testing processes and communicate needs to the Laboratory Manager.
• Perform testing of samples and quality control specimens using specified methodologies after demonstrating proficiency.
• Prepare samples, quality control specimens, reagents, and solutions, and calibrate equipment for testing processes.
• Verify and communicate results, making appropriate entries into instrument logs, control charts, and laboratory records.
• Maintain documentation, equipment, and work areas in a neat, orderly, and safe condition.
• Assist in training less experienced employees after demonstrating sufficient proficiency.

Essential Skills

• Experience with ion chromatography, AA, and GC testing.
• Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field with instrumentation experience.
• Basic math skills for unit conversions and solution preparation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Exposure to instrumentation techniques such as HPLC, FT-IR, UV/VIS, NMR, Titration, Distillations, and Synthesis.
• Industry experience is valued even without a degree if basic exposure to the necessary techniques is evident.
• An associate degree is acceptable if complemented by relevant experience.

Work Environment
The work environment is a small, family-oriented office located in St. Louis, with a tight-knit team of around 10 people. The lab operates with a flexible shift schedule, including weekends. You will work a total of 40 hours per week, with the option to choose 10-hour or 8-hour shifts. The current shift is 9 AM to 5 PM, with potential changes depending on staffing and client needs. Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $ $23.00/hr.
