Electrical Senior Engineer

Timmons Group is seeking an Electrical Senior Engineer - Substation for our Electrical Design Group located in our Charlotte, NC office. The Electrical Senior Engineer - Substation will focus on assembling and reviewing comprehensive engineering design packages for renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and battery storage systems. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise and leadership to support the design of physical and electrical substation systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:
- Prioritize engineering tasks and team deliverables to ensure quality, safety and customer satisfaction while adhering to schedule and budget
- Participate in client meetings and job site visits to collect or deliver design and engineering data
- Perform necessary calculations and review the preliminary design of facilities and equipment for generation collection, substation, and transmission related facilities including physical arrangements
- Lead, direct and mentor less experienced team members
- Support the development of detailed contracts, manage scopes of work, oversee change orders, and assist with project closeouts
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Communicate effectively with clients and internal teams
- Leverage existing industry relationships to help grow the firm's renewable energy client base
Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration is strongly preferred
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in distribution, substation, and/or transmission line engineering, with a strong emphasis on substation design
- Prior consulting experience is preferred
- Proficiency in electrical design and analysis software
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
