General Summary:

Are you a strategic thinker who excels at building strong vendor relationships and driving value through smart procurement decisions?

If so, this role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on how Oakland County procures the goods and services that keep our operations running smoothly.

What You'll Do:

  • Source, identify, evaluate, and manage suppliers to ensure we obtain high-quality goods and services at the best balance of cost, quality, and value.
  • Administer complex and high-dollar solicitations (typically $1M or more) while ensuring full compliance with County purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Lead negotiations to secure favorable contract terms that support both operational needs and long-term countywide strategies.
  • Monitor supplier performance, mitigate potential risks, and stay informed about market trends to enhance efficiency and strengthen decision-making.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to County departments by helping define specifications, establish evaluation criteria and pricing matrices, facilitate evaluations, and guide the solicitation and award process.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

What You'll Need:

  1. Have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a preferred major in business administration, Supply Chain Management, public administration, or closely related field of study.

  2. Have at least six (6) years of full-time work experience in a purchasing department.
