Dental Billing: Payment Entry Specialist

Join a high-performance, multi-location dental organization and take ownership of our financial accuracy.

We are seeking a Dental Billing: Payment Entry Specialist who is highly skilled in SoftDent and deeply knowledgeable about dental insurance and payment posting workflows. This role is critical to the accuracy of our ledgers, the health of our A/R, and the financial success of our practices.

If you are precise, analytical, and confident working with insurance payments, EOBs, and adjustments—you will excel in this role.

Core Responsibilities

  • Accurately post insurance and patient payments in SoftDent
  • Enter EOBs, adjustments, write-offs, and reversals correctly
  • Reconcile daily deposits and ensure accurate balancing
  • Review ledgers for posting errors and correct discrepancies
  • Apply PPO fee schedules and understand allowable amounts
  • Handle coordination of benefits and secondary claims
  • Track and resolve unapplied credits and account variances
  • Work directly with billing and front office to maintain clean claims and accurate accounts

Required Experience & Knowledge

  • SoftDent payment posting experience is required
  • Strong understanding of dental insurance plans and CDT codes
  • Ability to read and interpret EOBs, downgrades, bundling, UCR, deductibles, and write-offs
  • Experience with payment audits and insurance aging is highly preferred
  • Familiarity with HIPAA and confidentiality standards

Preferred (Not Required, but a Plus)

  • Experience posting bulk insurance EFTs
  • Understanding of capitation or HMO payment structures
  • Familiarity with CareCredit, Sunbit, or other payment plan platforms
  • Background in dental billing, A/R, or insurance coordination
