Position Summary:

The Billing Office Supervisor oversees all aspects of the billing and collections process for a busy Gastroenterology practice, including both professional and facility services. This role ensures accurate coding, timely claim submission, efficient reimbursement, and compliance with all regulatory and payer requirements. The supervisor provides leadership to the billing staff, monitors performance metrics, and works collaboratively with providers and management to optimize revenue cycle operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily operations of the billing and collections department, ensuring accurate and timely billing for professional and facility services.
  • Oversee claim submission, payment posting, account reconciliation, and follow-up on unpaid or denied claims.
  • Monitor billing staff productivity and provide training, guidance, and performance feedback.
  • Review and resolve complex billing issues, denials, and appeals related to gastroenterology procedures and endoscopy services.
  • Ensure accurate CPT and ICD-10 coding in compliance with payer and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with providers, clinical staff, and management to address documentation, coding, and reimbursement concerns.
  • Generate and analyze financial and performance reports to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payer policies, billing regulations, and gastroenterology-specific coding changes.
  • Manage patient billing inquiries with professionalism and efficiency.
  • Oversee credentialing updates, insurance enrollments, and payer communication as needed to support revenue cycle operations.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of medical billing experience, preferably in a gastroenterology or specialty practice.
  • Prior supervisory or team lead experience in a healthcare billing or revenue cycle setting.
  • Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding; familiarity with endoscopy and gastroenterology procedures preferred.
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) and practice management systems.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and compliance.
