THE ROLE
Lead an exceptional engineering team in developing our industry-leading, high-performance, and highly available unified storage solutions. You will define the technical vision and drive execution for key features, extending our leadership in mission-critical data services and cloud integration. This role is a unique opportunity to shape the technology that powers a product our customers love for its simplicity and continuous innovation. You will collaborate closely with Product Management and Customer Success to translate market needs into world-class engineering outcomes.
What You'll Do
- Own the strategic roadmap and execution for a core component of our unified data services, defining clear engineering priorities and success metrics that directly align with our product vision and overall business impact.
- Drive key architectural and technical design decisions for critical system features—such as cloud data mobility, high availability, or performance optimization—to ensure robust, scalable, and maintainable systems.
- Mentor and grow a high-performing software team, establishing a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement through effective performance management and career development.
- Champion an agile development model, optimizing team workflows, managing project backlogs, and ensuring a predictable, high-quality release cadence that consistently delivers tangible value to our customers.
- Serve as the primary cross-functional bridge between Engineering, Product Management, and Customer Success, effectively translating customer feedback and market needs into actionable engineering outcomes.
What You Bring
- Expertise in designing and shipping complex enterprise software, specifically within storage, highly available distributed systems, or large-scale cloud technologies.
- Demonstrated technical leadership in managing and mentoring high-performing software teams, driving technical roadmaps, and fostering a culture of technical excellence and psychological safety.
- Exceptional execution and delivery management skills, with a proven ability to implement effective agile practices and engineering best practices to consistently deliver high-quality products on schedule.
- Strong analytical and clear communication skills, capable of articulating complex architectural trade-offs and project status effectively to both engineers and executive leadership.
- A commitment to customer obsession and product quality, demonstrated by incorporating user feedback loops into the development cycle and championing end-to-end quality standards.
- We are primarily an in-office environment and therefore, you will be expected to work from the Santa Clara, CA office in compliance with Pure's policies, unless you are on PTO, or work travel, or other approved leave.
Salary ranges are determined based on role, level and location. For positions open to candidates in multiple geographical locations, the base salary range is reflective of the labor market across the applicable locations.
This role may be eligible for incentive pay and/or equity.

The Annual Base Salary Range Is
$193,000—$317,000 USD
