Duties:

  • Responsible for the health, safety, and well-being of the members;
  • Provides assistance in the self-administration of medication;
  • Responsible for recognition of early signs of illness and the need for professional assistance;
  • Provide direct care service and supports to the members in meeting their basic personal needs including:
  • Meal preparation and understanding basic nutrition, food preparation, storage and menu planning;
  • Housekeeping and sanitation principles;
  • Universal precautions and proper cleaning and treatment of bodily fluids;
  • Modeling appropriate social behavior and positive use of free time with recreational activity both in the home and the community, and identification of community resources.
  • Provide support and transportation to the members as they integrate into the community. Educate members related to independent living skills and activities of daily living, goal setting, budgeting, vocational skills, wellness, and social and recreational activities, etc. either individually or in a group setting.
  • Ensure that the members comply with facility rules, treatment plans which include personalized goals, appropriate interpersonal relationships, and fire and safety protocols.
  • Facilitate communication with members including how to follow the program guidelines and protocols, implement day-to-day structure which may include redirection, and verbal intervention where applicable.
  • Submit significant and routine paperwork such as progress notes, incident reports, medication logs, Staff change reports, maintenance requests, etc. as required by the program. Attention to detail is important for these clinical records.
  • Be present and awake at a Helping Hearts Hulen facility at all times
  • Complete at least 20 hours of in-service training annually.
  • This position reports to the Assistant Administrator and Administrator

Requirements:

  • Complete Company First Aid Certification class
  • Experience working with people with medical and behavioral needs are preferred.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and have a verified GED or High School Diploma (copy maintained in employee file).
  • Completed and been cleared through Concentra Pre-Employment physical and have a clean TB skin test or Chest X-Ray (if previous skin reaction), and negative five panel drug screen test.
  • Clear Criminal Record Clearance or approved exemption (through Livescan) that is verified through Helping Hearts and assigned to Helping Hearts Hulen facility.'
  • Work Location: Riverside, CA.
  • This job cannot be performed remotely.
