Your expertise will help us create systems and solutions that make information about Duke faculty easier to collect, process, maintain, analyze, and share.

The Provost Office of Faculty Affairs is at the heart of Duke's academic mission, overseeing faculty recruitment, appointments, promotion and tenure, professorships, awards, and more. As a Higher Education Analyst II, you'll partner with senior academic and administrative leaders to transform raw data into actionable insights, scalable reports, comprehensive analyses, and interactive business intelligence solutions that enable efficient, data-informed, decision making.
What You'll Do:
- Design and deliver reporting solutions and visualizations using platforms like SAP/, Symplectic Elements, Tableau, and Power BI.
- Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with university standards and policies.
- Respond to ad-hoc requests from senior leadership with accurate, well-documented, and reproducible analyses.
- Aggregate and analyze transactional data to identify trends, support compliance, and inform project prioritization.
- Conduct ongoing analysis of transactional data to support efforts in data integrity, trend analysis, and compliance. Provide impact analyses to help prioritize upcoming projects.
- Help institutionalize and maintain a reporting environment and support model that evolves as new data systems, technologies, and business needs arise. Periodically work with internal and external stakeholders, as well as engagement metrics to evaluate the usefulness of existing reports.
- Utilize APIs, curated data sources, and controlled vocabularies to enrich data quality and usability.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and participate in university-wide analytics groups to evaluate and enhance reporting environments.

Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field with advanced knowledge of statistical analysis and interpretation.
- Proficiency in SQL, Excel, Tableau, Power BI, and data modeling
- Four years of experience in higher education.
- Strong skills in creating interactive dashboards and working with live data connections and multiple data sources.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Preferred Experience
- Programming and scripting skills (Python, R, PL-SQL, Oracle, Postgres, Microsoft SQL Server).
- Familiarity with HR analytics and employee life cycle.
- Experience with controlled vocabularies, benchmarking, bibliometrics, and scholarly impact metrics.
- Knowledge of code repository management (GitHub or GitLab).
Anticipated Pay Range
Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $62,694.00 to USD $107, Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
