Job Description

Perform general construction tasks involving physical labor at construction projects. May operate hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, jumping jack tamps, flat tamps, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments. May clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, cleaning up rubble and debris.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operate jackhammers, drills, and other power tools as required.

  • Work with equipment operators to facilitate movement and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.

  • Tend pumps, compressors, and generators to provide power for tools, machinery, and equipment, or to heat and move materials such as asphalt.

  • Lubricate, clean, and repair machinery, equipment, and tools.

  • Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.

  • Control traffic passing near, in, and around work zones.

  • Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, and compact and level to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, and rakes.

  • Erect and disassemble shoring boards, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, and other temporary structures.

  • Load, unload materials, machinery, and tools.

  • Learn and follow safety regulations.

  • Provide assistance to subcontractors, pipe layers, and masons.

  • Work hours as demanded by the project owner, could include nights, weekends.

  • Perform additional duties as required or directed by their immediate supervisor or other managers.

Minimum Requirements Education:

  • Drivers License Preferable

Work Experience:

  • Prior construction experience is preferable

  • Or experience working in an outdoor environment

  • Weekend work may be required

Physical Demands:

  • Heavy physical effort required including pulling and lifting or moving heavy weight material with frequent lifting or moving materials or equipment.

Physical Activity:

Position requires the ability to continuously work around noise, dust, heat, cold, oil, and heavy equipment. Position requires the ability to exchange ideas quickly and clearly and the ability to receive and evaluate detailed information and instructions.
