Laboratory Technician
We are a dynamic and innovative food science company, specializing in the development of novel ingredients for the food and beverage industry. Our R&D team is scaling up operations to support new analytical capabilities, process development, and product innovation. We're seeking a hands-on and motivated R&D Laboratory Technician to assist in expanding our in-house testing capacity and help execute critical experiments during this phase of growth.
Position Summary:
The R&D Laboratory Technician will support experimental work related to homogenization processes, operation of analytical equipment (viscometer, FTIR), and sensory assays. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is detail-oriented, and is comfortable working across multiple types of lab instrumentation and testing workflows. Because this assignment is tied to time‑bound validation milestones, it is structured as a three‑month temporary contract. An extension is possible if project timelines or throughput needs increase.
You will work closely with scientists to help collect, process, and analyze experimental data, contributing directly to formulation development and operational troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sample Preparation & Routine Testing
- Support sensory testing workflows, including preparing samples, organizing panels, and presenting data under the guidance of senior scientists.
- Assist in running application compatibility assays across various conditions.
- Instrument Operation & Support
- Use benchtop equipment to conduct small-scale R&D experiments.
- Assist with instrumental analyses, including but not limited to microplate-based assays, viscosity testing, and subjective assays.
- Experimental Execution
- Follow established protocols for sensory tests, including structured data collection and reporting.
- Execute high-throughput assays efficiently while maintaining accurate records and ensuring data quality.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Record experimental procedures, instrument parameters, and results clearly and systematically.
- Communicate findings to the R&D team in a timely manner to support decision-making.
- Laboratory Operations & Maintenance
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment, ensuring compliance with all safety and hygiene procedures.
- Prepare any solutions or bases needed for experiments.
- Support inventory management, including tracking, labeling, and replenishing laboratory supplies and chemicals.
- Manage general lab upkeep and waste disposal.
Qualifications:
- 1+ year of laboratory experience in food science, biotechnology, analytical chemistry, or related fields.
- Bachelor's degree or 1-2 years of laboratory experience in place of a bachelor's. Recent graduates with lab experience are welcome to apply.
- Comfortable operating benchtop instruments, food science equipment, and following instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently after training
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to document and relay experimental results clearly.
- Must be team-oriented, curious, and eager to learn new methods.
- Interest in highly regulated industries and overcoming external challenges amid constant change is preferred
- You've used AI tooling for work or personal use—or you're willing to jump in and learn quickly. You explore new tools, workflows, and ideas to boost efficiency and are eager to deepen your understanding of AI and apply it regularly.
- On-site CO or CA availability preferred.
