Work schedule: Monday through Friday, Onsite, 8am to 5pm; average of 3-4 evening or weekend work-related events per month is expected, and up to 10% state and national travel
Compensation: $80,000 - $90,000 annual salary

About APAPA
The Asian Pacific American Public Affairs Association (APAPA) is a national nonprofit committed to advancing all communities in solidarity with API communities through leadership development, civic engagement, and public service. APAPA empowers both youth and adults to lead, serve, and inspire.
As APAPA is expanding its headquarters team, we are seeking a Program Director whose passion is community and youth programming. This is a pivotal role in shaping the organization's future at a dynamic time in the organization's development.
Position Summary
The Program Director I is a senior-level role responsible for overseeing APAPA's signature youth and volunteer chapter programs. The role requires strong leadership skills, and the ability to lead through change and thrive in a fast-paced environment. The Program Director will supervise administrative and clerical staff, guide key volunteers, and work closely with the COO and CEO to drive organizational priorities.
The ideal candidate is a results-driven professional with a strong track record of nonprofit management and youth/community program management.
Key responsibilities:
Internship and Youth Academy Programs:
Develop and lead National Youth Leadership Academy and youth programming thoughout the year for local high school students at APAPA HQ in Natomas.
Work with all chapters to start and/or maintain a quality Summer internship program.
Train all chapter leaders so they are able to provide an orientation program for their student internship program themselves.
Ensure that website resources for the internship and youth academy programs are up to date.
Record impact and demographic statistics for use in grant writing, and to contribute to the annual report.
Chapter Support:
Identify and recommend new qualified chapters to be approved by the National Governing Board.
Help to develop new chapter teams, regional boards, and strengthen existing chapters.
Provide orientation and training for chapter boards and teams, as needed.
Update chapter documents and board member agreements as needed.
Manage and document chapter compliance with board, meeting, and program requirements.
Manage the internal Community Impact Grant program, including convening and coordinating the Community Impact Grant Committee.
Prepare and provide each chapter with a chapter support kit each year.
Ensure to provide stock inventory of all branded APAPA items for chapters' use and provide special order signage and items with logo.
Ensure regular communications and updates with chapter leaders.
Produce National Leadership Zooms, twice a quarter.
Events:
- Support the success of all signature events with logistics coordination, as requested. - Recruit, train, assign and supervise event volunteers, including interns and youth volunteers.
General Administration:
Draft or update statements of procedure for internship program, youth academy program, community impact grant program, chapter approval process, and chapter orientation and onboarding process.
Research, identify and complete viable grant applications to fund internships and community grant pool.
Maintain accuracy of database for internship program, youth academy program, and chapter contacts.
Draft and submit an annual budget for internship program, youth academy program, and chapter & regional board support program.
Coordinate with social media staff to recognize Student Interns and Chapter Leaders in social media, website, newsletters, and press releases.
Participate in weekly HQ team meetings and committees as needed. Report updates for your work and positive contributions.
Accept shared responsibility for property management and maintenance, with entire team.
Attend and support special community events with APAPA HQ team to support partnering nonprofit organizations.
Follow all policies, procedures, and requirements in the Employee Handbook.
Help to establish a professional and positive working environment at APAPA HQ for long-term retention of positive contributing staff and vendors.
Serve as a positive spokesperson for APAPA, and engage general community members, partners, interns, public officials, and sponsors to support APAPA. Act in good faith to not to make any disparaging, defamatory or negative comments either directly or indirectly about APAPA or APAPA leaders.
Responsibilities may vary, and will include general administrative support.
Report to the CEO and COO on a regular basis. Work closely with the COO and the team for training and development in upper management areas.
