Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Supervises all aspects of the cemetery/crematory operations including personnel, facilities, equipment, and grounds.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Responsible for the mowing and maintenance of the grounds on a regular basis as well as operating and maintaining all grounds maintenance equipment. Providing safe and reliable equipment and tools as well as a safe work environment.
  2. Responsible for watering of all grounds and plants as needed as well as weeding & maintaining all flower beds including removal and replacement of dead plants.
  3. Responsible for the building/shop maintenance as needed.
  4. Responsible for all vehicles and equipment, insure that maintenance records are maintain and that autos and equipment are clean and ready for service.
  5. Responsible for proper lay out of the graves for interments, the opening, and closing of the graves/entombments, cemetery setups for interments, and all necessary requirements for entombments. Make sure interment order is completed prior to interment or entombment. To be present for all interments / entombments or make necessary arrangements for a cemetery representative to be present.
  6. Assist the consultants with at-need families for lot purchases and/or selection prior to interment or entombment.
  7. Coordinate granite orders and marker settings through proper source and to be responsible for the lay out of the marker location for setting.
  8. Supervises personnel on a daily basis and assist the Cemetery Manager in the hiring, termination, and leadership of personnel.
  9. Operates all aspects of the crematory, responsible for necessary paperwork as required by Rollers cremation guidelines. Is knowledgeable in the rules and regulations required to operate this type facility.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Responsible for grave set-ups and equipment, including tent, chairs, artificial grass and lowering device for cemetery service, loading and unloading of wooden boxes and on rare occasions steel vaults, which are both outside containers, where needed.
  2. Assist with funeral service where appropriate (parking lot, flowers, etc).
  3. Assist in loading and unloading of casketed remains.
  4. On occasion, travel to other Regions of the Roller Funeral Homes to assist in the maintenance areas.
  5. To assist in any other manner deem necessary by management to maintain the maintenance of the cemetery.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma plus additional experience in mechanical and maintenance tasks. Certified Crematory Operator.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general technical procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from the manager, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of all aspects of maintenance and ground keeping. Basic knowledge of operation of maintenance equipment. Ability to organize and prioritize work.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Acceptable verbal and interpersonal skills. Valid drivers license.
