WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH

This is an individual contributor role reporting to the APLA Design Director. You'll collaborate closely with key functional partners throughout the Product design process, including:

  • APLA Footwear and Apparel Design teammates across categories
  • APLA Product Management and Development teams
  • APLA Merchandising and Marketing partners
  • Global Design counterparts and Nike Creative stakeholders

You'll also engage with external vendors and suppliers to bring your designs to life, ensuring alignment with Nike's brand standards and regional consumer expectations.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Asia-Pacific & Latin America (APLA) Express Lane is seeking a Senior Footwear Color & Graphics Designer to join our dynamic and fast-paced design team. This role is ideal for a seasoned creative who thrives in a multicultural environment and is passionate about crafting regionally relevant, consumer-driven product stories through color and graphic expression.

The ideal candidate will bring advanced design expertise, a strong understanding of geo consumer insights, and the ability to independently lead complex projects. We're looking for someone who can seamlessly blend color theory, graphic storytelling, and footwear construction knowledge to deliver compelling seasonal narratives across sportswear and key FOPs (Fields of Play), serving all genders.

This designer will be a strategic thinker and versatile problem solver, capable of navigating ambiguity and delivering high-impact design solutions under tight timelines. APLA values agility, cultural fluency, and a collaborative spirit—qualities essential for success in this role.

Education:

BA/BFA/MA/MFA preferred in Graphic Design, Fashion Design, Industrial Design, Apparel Design, Material Design, Textile Design or will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training.

Experience:

  • 4+ years of professional design experience, preferably within the footwear, sportswear, or streetwear industry
  • Extensive expertise in Color and Graphic Design for products
  • Comprehensive understanding of footwear construction, tech packs, and schematic development
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and adhere to timelines
  • Thorough knowledge of the APLA consumer, with a proven track record of designing for this demographic
  • Proficient in translating geo-specific consumer insights into effective design solutions
  • Excellent visual and verbal presentation skills
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts clearly and collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Proven team player, fostering a positive and inclusive environment to achieve shared creative goals
  • Sound decision-making abilities and strategic thinking skills
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, 3D/AI rendering software, and Miro
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 15% of the time

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON

As the Senior Footwear Color & Graphics Designer, you will:

  • Uses sophisticated skills to create product expressions that align with global creative direction, seasonal key concepts, gender strategies, franchise journeys, geo assortments and connect with the APLA consumer
  • Lead the seasonal color and graphics strategy for APLA footwear, translating consumer insights and market trends into compelling visual narratives and product stories.
  • Develop prints, patterns, trims, and graphics across multiple footwear platforms, ensuring innovation and excellence in technology and application.
  • Partner with Product Management, and Development to build trend-driven assortments, communicate design intent, review prototypes, and refine execution.
  • Obsess storytelling and share the "why" behind the work. Present concepts clearly to internal teams, leadership, and external partners, effectively communicating the purpose behind design decisions.
  • Manage design deliverables and project timelines, planning and executing product details, reviewing samples, resolving feasibility issues, and ensuring timely project completion.
  • Demonstrate strong trend mining skills with a deep connection to consumer and city trends, maintaining in-depth knowledge of Nike DNA and the color blocking of iconic footwear models.
