General Summary:Our Applied AI team at Unum is adding an AI Technical Platform Manager to the team As the Technical Platform Manager for AI Initiatives, you will play a pivotal role in advancing Unum's AI and data science capabilities through the AIRIS platform—our AI Ops and Innovation Sandbox. You will be responsible for defining and executing the platform vision, roadmap, and governance for AIRIS, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of our AI/ML practitioners, data engineers, and product & Innovation teams across the enterprise. In addition, you will own the community of practice for data science and AI, fostering collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and best practices adoption among all teams operating on AIRIS.
Job Specifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in product management, technical program management, or related role, with at least 2 years supporting AI/ML or data platforms.
- Hands-on familiarity with AIOps, Databricks, and equivalent cloud-native AI/ML platforms strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of AI lifecycle tools (model training, deployment, monitoring).
- Familiarity with data wrangling, feature engineering, and data pipeline orchestration.
- Understanding of platform architecture, APIs, and integration patterns.
- Strong facilitation skills for running communities of practice or cross-team forums.
- Demonstrated ability to translate technical needs into business value.
- Excellent communication skills to influence executive stakeholders and technical teams alike.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Partner with executive leadership to align AIRIS platform strategy with enterprise AI and Innovation goals.
- Define KPIs for adoption, performance, and value creation, and regularly report on progress.
- Assess market trends, vendor offerings, and emerging technologies in the AIOps and AI/ML tooling space to guide platform evolution.
- Serve as the product owner for the AIRIS platform, managing its roadmap, feature prioritization, reusability, and user adoption.
- Ensure platform reliability, scalability, and usability in collaboration with engineering, architecture, and operations teams.
- Partner with security, compliance, and IT to maintain governance, access controls, and audit readiness.
- Define and deliver platform capabilities that accelerate the end-to-end AI lifecycle, including data wrangling, feature engineering, experimentation, deployment, and ongoing monitoring.
- Identify reusable assets and publish and ready them for broader adoption
- Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and AI product managers to remove bottlenecks and provide tools/workflows that improve productivity and model quality.
- Own and facilitate the AIRIS community of practice, ensuring alignment of standards, reusable assets, and AI/ML best practices.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration between analytics, engineering, product, and business teams to maximize the impact of AI initiatives.
- Evangelize new AIRIS capabilities, onboarding programs, and success stories across the enterprise.
- Represent the needs of AIRIS platform users (data scientists, analysts, engineers) by collecting feedback, conducting discovery, and translating insights into product features.
- Ensure that the platform experience supports both advanced AI practitioners and new users entering the ecosystem.
- May perform other tasks and duties as needed.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
$89,400.00-$183,500.00Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
