Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Athletic Equipment Manager, the Athletic Equipment Assistant supports the management of athletic equipment and supplies used by the 19 sports of the intercollegiate sports program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with receiving, taking inventory of, and tracking, storing, repairing and distributing equipment and uniforms for approximately 300 student-athletes.
  • Assist with collecting and laundering uniforms, practice gear and team travel gear, training room and strength complex towels
  • Collect items delivered to University Receiving for coaches and staff.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Ability to sort, maintain and inventory supplies. Ability to mend and do simple sewing by hand and machine. Experience in the collection and laundering of uniforms and practice gear. Previous desktop computer experience.  Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel preferred. Ability to input data and keep simple records.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.  Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.  Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

Education and Experience

Equivalent to high school diploma required.

Physical Summary

Medium work - Job involves lifting heavy-weight objects pounds) and/or 20% - 40% of the job involves standing, squatting, kneeling, or walking. May require pushing or pulling objects within the weight limits.

• CA Drivers License required.


• Possession of or ability to obtain an American Red Cross First Aid Certificate required.

The salary range for this classification is $19.97 to $27.96 per hour.

Time Base

Hourly/intermittent on call temporary position.  Successful candidates may be appointed for a few days and up to one (1) year depending on the assignment. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.

Additional Information
