This is a rare opportunity to be one of the early hires at a mission-driven startup that is entering a promising growth phase with :$15M raised to-date (VCs, US DOE (ARPA-E), CEC, etc.), regulations recently changed in 3 states, and deployment poised to 5-11x in the next 2 years. Role: As an Engineering Technician, you will take ownership over the installation, operations and execution of field testing our gravity energy storage technology, while also supporting its continued development. This role is largely hands-on with consistent travel to installation/testing sites (Elk Hills (Tupman) and Bakersfield, CA; as well as likely installations near Denver, Colorado) will be required. As part of a high-growth startup, you will be challenged to rapidly expand your skillset, with ample opportunity to grow into roles of increasing responsibility.
Responsibilities:
- Running tests, creating summary reports, and delivering recommendations to Engineering
- Inspecting, analyzing, and troubleshooting systems and equipment
- Sourcing replacement parts
- Hands-on firmware development (with assistance from our Lead Electrical Engineer)
- Repair or replacement of faulty equipment
- Manage contractors/consultants for repair support as needed

Requirements
Required skillset/experience:
- High school diploma
- A relevant degree or certification is preferred
- Comfortable reading and utilizing user manuals
- Reliable and flexible
Location
Bakersfield, California will be the primary location, with 10-20% of time spent in San Luis Obispo.
