Purpose of Position:  Responsible for the continuous monitoring, operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the boiler.Essential Functions: These duties are designated as ADA Essential Functions and must be performed in this job   1. Monitor computer readout2. Monitor boiler equipment/gauges/valves3. Mix boiler chemicals4. Clean boiler cells by using proper cell procedures5. Maintain fuel pile6. Operate front-end loader/bobcat7. Operate cranes/hoists/lifting slings8. Comply with Federal, State, and Company rules, policies and procedures9. Fire Watch10. Other duties as assigned Non Essential Functions:  These duties are secondary in nature and are not classified as ADA essential.1. The worker may be required to rotate to different positions for cross training purposes or to facilitateproduction. Job duties for other positions are outlined in their individual job descriptions.2. Assist Co-Workers or maintenance personnel in basic maintenance and upkeep of machine.3. Cleanup as needed.Working Environment: (1) Environmental exposure - Inside 80% of the time:  Average temperature 65 degrees, high 110 degrees, and low 50 degrees.  Outside 20% of the time:  Average temperature 65 degrees, high 110 degrees, and low 30 degrees.  (2) Noise or Vibration - Boiler, Loader, Bobcat and other machine noises, forklift noise and similar heavy equipment found in the area.  (3) Atmospheric conditions - Potential for:  Dust, Fumes, Extreme Heat, Steam.Physical Demands:  See the Physical Capabilities as listed below.  Worker will bend, twist, squat, push/pull (back legs) using waist, shoulders, arms, hands, and wrists to manipulate a variety of hand tools.  Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. Climb ladders and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to concentrate in a noisy environment, deal with frequent interruptions, juggle multiple projects, meet deadlines, exercise independent judgment or perform other mental tasks. 50 lbs.Skills: Understand basic operations of the steam boiler. Trained in cell cleaning. General knowledge of Federal, State, and Company rules, procedures and policies regarding safe operation of steam boiler. Reading, speech, and basic computer skills required to communicate comprehension of Job Hazard Analysis, machine specific lockout procedures, monthly safety training, boiler readouts, gauges, valves, etc. Ability to complete employee performance evaluation process, including giving and receiving feedback. Must successfully complete required training for rolling stock and equipment used.  Successful completion of firewatch/fire suppression training.  Firewatch will (1) become familiar with facility layout.  (2) Communicate with maintenance and prior firewatch.  (3) Inspect work site for hot spots or possible sources of combustion.  (4) Extinguish any fires that may occur.  (5) Continue area inspection for at least 2 hours after completion of hot work.  (6) Periodically inspect areas outside of hot work area for possible combustion sources or fires.Use vision/hearing continuously. Worker generally works alone or with a partner with little supervision.  Must be self-directed in identifying and efficiently completing each task.
