Hercules First Federal Credit Union is seeking an experienced and talented Mortgage Loan Manager to lead and expand our residential mortgage lending program through our full suite of products and services, including secondary market and portfolio mortgage loans. Additionally, the successful candidate will help to develop leads for commercial loan and business services sales.

This is a managing producer role, to include overall supervision of the department and management of additional producers as expansion warrants.

Sales experience is a requirement of this position as the successful candidate will be key to driving a sales culture throughout the credit union's mortgage and business efforts. While mortgage loan officer experience is a must, we are willing to train the right individual in commercial lending and business services.

Key Responsibilities are:

  • Originate first mortgage loans through various channels available to the credit union.
  • Identify opportunities for product expansion in the mortgage department.
  • Recommend resource and staffing needs to ensure department success.
  • Collaborate with branch leaders to integrate lending and business service sales strategies.
  • Manage origination, processing, and funding of residential real estate loans.
  • Ensure compliance with mortgage lending regulations, GSE guidelines, and secondary market requirements.
  • Build relationships with local real estate professionals, builders, and local businesses and community partners.
  • Ensure adherence to all Credit Union, NCUA, and regulatory lending policies.
  • Represent Hercules First Federal Credit Union in community and business events to enhance visibility and partnerships.
  • Support branch efforts to identify opportunities and adopt effective sales strategies.
  • Monitor loan pipeline and achieve sales and income goals.
  • Provide exceptional member service and prompt resolution of inquiries.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • 5–7 years of progressive experience in mortgage lending.
  • Commercial lending and business services knowledge a plus.
  • Supervisory experience in a financial institution or credit union environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of NCUA regulations, secondary market standards, and commercial lending practices.
  • Active NMLS license (required).

  • Strong leadership and team-building abilities.
  • Proven expertise in financial and credit analysis.
  • Excellent relationship management and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and lending platforms.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and compliance.
  • Spanish language skills strongly desired.

Physical & Travel Requirements

  • Prolonged sitting and computer work.
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Frequent travel to branch locations, member businesses, closings, and community events.
