MARINE SPRAY PAINTER

LOCATIONS: Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) & Naval Station Norfolk (NOB)

We are seeking skilled certified painters to join our team.  The ideal candidate will have experience in both residential and commercial painting, with a strong understanding of color theory and various painting techniques. The role involves preparing surfaces, applying paint, and ensuring high-quality finishes on a variety of projects.  The painter will work closely with other construction professionals to deliver exceptional results. 

Responsibilities


•    Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, and caulking as necessary.  


•    Able to mix, match, tint, and blend coating materials by adding agents (e.g., retardants, dryers, solvents, thinners) to verify correct color, texture, consistency, hardening, and drying.


•    Apply paint using various techniques including airless paint spraying and hand tools.


•    Install fixtures and perform minor repairs as needed to ensure a smooth finish. 


•    Understand and apply color theory to achieve desired aesthetics for each project


•    collaborate with carpenters and other tradespeople to complete projects efficiently.


•    Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring all tools and materials are properly stored.


•    Conduct quality checks on completed work to ensure it meets company standards. 


•    Stay up to date on industry trends, technique, and safety protocols related to painting.

Qualifications


•    Proven experience in construction painting, with a portfolio of completed projects preferred.


•    Proficiency in using hand tools and equipment related to painting tasks.


•    Knowledge of caulking techniques and coatings applications is a plus.


•    Familiarity with commercial painting practices is advantageous.


•    Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.


•    Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.


•    Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy materials as required for the job. 


•    SSPC/ AMPP Certified C-7, C-12, C-13, C-14 are a plus.

•    8-hour shift


•    10-hour shift


•    12-hour shift


•    Morning shift    

Physical Demands and Expectations:


•    Regular physical activity includes walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, standing and prolonged sitting.


•    Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance.


•    Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment.
