The organization provides mentorship programs for young girls, college students, and professional women. Role Description

The Spring 2026 Internship Role for the Prom Project at Curvaceous Behavior offers hands-on experience in event planning, community outreach, and program coordination. As an intern, you will assist with event preparation, communications, social media management, and logistics for the Prom Project. Additional responsibilities include engaging with participants, fostering community relations, and supporting the overall success of Curvaceous Behavior's mission-driven projects. This internship is a hybrid role located in Charlotte, NC, with flexibility for remote work. Intern is required to work the 5th Annual Prom project in April 2026.

Internship timeline: January 12- April 4, hours a week)

• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage deadlines effectively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with diverse groups.
• Proactive attitude, creative problem-solving abilities, and adaptability in a hybrid work environment.
• Previous experience in nonprofit organizations or community programs is a plus.
• Pursuing or holding a degree in Communications, Marketing, Social Work, or a related field is preferred.
• A passion for empowering individuals and promoting wellness through meaningful initiatives.

About Prom Project

Prom Project is an annual community event hosted by
Curvaceous Behavior Nonprofit
. Since 2022, we have supported high school juniors and seniors—primarily from Title I schools—by providing
free prom dresses
and helping them feel confident and celebrated. Spring 2026 will be our
5th Annual Prom Project
, held in Charlotte, NC.

We are seeking
2 dedicated college interns
to support community engagement, outreach, and event coordination leading up to Prom Project 2026.

Internship Dates

January 12, 2026 – April 1, 2026

Part-time, flexible hours (evenings and weekends as needed for events)

Internship Overview

The
Prom Project Interns
will support both
Prom Project 2026
and Curvaceous Behavior's ongoing
Self-Care Sunday
initiative by helping grow community awareness, partnerships, and engagement.

Interns will gain hands-on experience in:

• Community outreach
• Event planning & logistics
• Nonprofit communications
• Fundraising & partnership development

Key Responsibilities

Community & School Outreach

• Reach out to local
  high schools (especially Title I schools)
  to promote Prom Project and Self-Care Sundays.
• Communicate with school counselors, social workers, and student support staff to share flyers and information.
• Assist with promoting Self-Care Sunday on high school campuses (with permission from schools).

Partnerships & Fundraising

• Send emails to
  local businesses, boutiques, salons, churches, and community organizations
  for partnerships, dress drives, and sponsorship opportunities.
• Support
  cold calling
  and follow-up outreach to potential partners.
• Assist with fundraising efforts and donation requests.

Event Promotion & Coordination

• Help create and distribute promotional materials for Prom Project (flyers, email blasts, social media content drafts, etc.).
• Assist with
  volunteer recruitment
  , communication, and coordination.
• Support planning and execution of 1–3 events during the internship, which may include:
• A prom fashion show
• Community workshops
• Self-Care Sunday sessions
• Other community events aligned with the internship

Prom Project Event Support

• Help with
  event set-up and breakdown
  for Prom Project.
• Assist with
  sorting, organizing, and displaying prom dress donations
  .
• Greet and support students and families during the event.
• Help with check-in, line flow, and general event logistics.

Qualifications

• Must be a
  current college student
  in the
  Charlotte, NC area
• Reliable transportation
  required
• Interest in:
• Youth empowerment and community impact
• Nonprofit work and/or event planning
• Social impact, mental wellness, or creative programs
• Strong communication skills (email, phone, and in-person)
• Comfortable with
  cold calling and outreach
  (training provided)
• Organized, reliable, and able to manage multiple small tasks
• Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to help where needed
