Exceptional HR Solutions is conducting a confidential search for an experienced and detail-driven Senior Accountant to oversee general ledger accounting, month-end close, and implement more efficient accounting procedures.

The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills with deep knowledge of accounting principles and modern systems, and collaborates effectively with accounting team members and management.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Reconcile month-end account balances (cash, A/R, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, A/P, accrued expenses, debt, other assets & liabilities)
  • Prepare and enter journal entries; document GL balances; provide support to independent auditors; establish/improve month-end close procedures
  • Make appropriate accounting and journal entries; prepare and monitor bank transactions
  • Assist with collections and cash management
  • Forecast short- and long-range cash requirements to maintain adequate liquidity
  • Develop and recommend budgets; authorize expenditures per budget; approve subordinate expenses
  • Analyze financial information and prepare ad hoc analyses and reports
  • Work closely with a Production/Project Accountant to support job cost reporting
  • Proactively research and resolve accounting issues
  • Keep senior management informed on company performance; advise on financial matters
  • Assist in analyzing new ventures to quantify risk-return relationships
  • Provide information to outside auditors and tax accountants
  • Recommend ways to improve efficiency in accounting procedures and operations
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP
  • Perform additional related duties as needed

Reporting Relationship: Reports directly to the CFO

Required Skills

  • Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and GAAP
  • Familiarity with financial statements; GL functions; month-end/year-end close
  • Hands-on experience with ERP/accounting software
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • High accuracy, attention to detail, and strong analytical ability
  • Fact-based approach with willingness to understand transactional detail
  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and escalate issues appropriately; flexibility to switch gears quickly
  • Optimistic, positive, and supportive in all interactions; maintains strict confidentiality
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; service-oriented; able to explain issues and recommend solutions
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and action-oriented
  • Passionate about company culture and team morale
  • Interested in improving and building processes and workflows

Qualifications

  • BS in Accounting or equivalent; CPA a plus
  • 5+ years of accounting experience (operations and/or audit)
  • Experience in project-cost accounting; creative or construction industry experience is a plus
  • Public accounting experience a plus
  • ERP experience desired

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60, $80,000.00 per year
