We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled candidate to join our team as a Public Safety Charitable Gaming Inspector. The ideal candidate will be responsible to oversee and aid in the registration and/or licensure of non-profit organizations in Games of Chance, Beano and Bingo. This involves ensuring that these organizations adhere to all the necessary regulations and guidelines when conducting charitable gaming activities. This individual is also responsible for conducting field inspections of games that have been registered or licensed, as well as liaising with local law enforcement agencies to provide them with the necessary assistance and training regarding charitable gaming activities. In addition, they will complete formal reports of alleged violations and patron complaints, and for performing any other duties as assigned by the Deputy Director or Executive Director.

A state vehicle is provided for business purposes only for travel to different locations across Southern Maine to conduct inspections and assessments of different charitable gaming activities.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Oversee and provide assistance in the registration and/or licensure of non-profit organizations in the area of Games of Chance, Beano and Bingo and the proper recording thereof.
  • Complete field inspections of games registered or licensed.
  • Units liason with local law enforcement providing on location assistance and training as requested.
  • Complete formal reports of alleged violations and patron complaints.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Deputy Director or Executive Director.

Skills or knowledge required:

  • Knowledge of laws and rules pertaining to the regulatory oversight of charitable gaming of Bingo and Games of Chance.
  • Ability to answer questions from public and organizations in a timely and informed manner and follow-up with any compliance issues.
  • Ability to write detailed reports and provide consistent quality assurance with Gaming Control Unit records.
  • Ability to provide both oral and written communications in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ability to complete work schedules with little supervision.

Minimum qualifications:

A two (2) year combination of education, training, and/or experience directly related to inspections.
