Job Title: Director of Food Safety, Quality, and Compliance

Summary

The Director of Food Safety, Quality, and Compliance (DFSQC) is a key leadership role that drives Metropolis Coffee Company's commitment to excellence and integrity across all operations. This position ensures full compliance with SQF standards and other food safety regulations while promoting a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and employee engagement. The DFSQC leads the company's food safety and quality management systems and oversees critical aspects of compliance, administration, and organizational performance.

Key Responsibilities

Food Safety, Quality, and Regulatory Compliance

  • Maintain and refine programs for Food Safety, Food Hygiene, Security, and Regulatory Compliance.
  • Serve as Lead HACCP Coordinator and PCQI for the facility; maintain and reassess HACCP and Food Safety Plans annually or as needed.
  • Develop, validate, and maintain all HACCP and SQF Food Safety Plan documentation for new and existing products and controls.
  • Act as the primary liaison with Federal, State, and Local Inspectors (SQF, USDA, FDA, OSHA, etc.) and third-party or customer auditors, ensuring prompt and effective responses to all non-conformances and deviations.
  • Partner with operations leadership to develop and implement processes that reduce product variability, improve consistency, and elevate overall product safety and quality.
  • Analyze and present quality and compliance reports to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Establish and oversee food safety and compliance training programs to ensure regulatory, customer, and internal standards are met.
  • Manage and contribute to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience, including leadership in compliance within a food manufacturing environment.
  • Experience participating in or running an SQF System or similar GFSI Program required.
  • Certifications required: HACCP, PCQI, SQF Practitioner, Internal Auditing, Food Defense.
  • Strong working knowledge of FDA, USDA, OSHA, and environmental regulations.
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor teams while fostering a positive, compliant workplace culture.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience managing compliance and administrative systems.
  • Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and a passion for both people development and quality excellence.
