Job Description:
The Cloud Developer leads the design, development, deployment, and optimization of secure, scalable cloud solutions across the enterprise. This role shapes cloud architecture, automates cloud resource management, and enables delivery models such as Platform as a Service (PaaS), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS), and Data as a Service (DaaS). The position requires expertise in DevSecOps, cloud-native development, and enterprise migration strategies, with a strong understanding of secure, resilient, and cost-effective cloud environments.
Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship is required
- Must possess an active TS clearance at the time of application, be willing and able to obtain SCI access, and pass a CI polygraph.
- Candidate must be able to work onsite five days a week at one of the following locations: Washington, D.C.; Huntsville, Alabama; or Clarksburg, West Virginia
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- At least five (5) years of software or cloud development experience, including a minimum of three (3) years in a senior or lead cloud role.
- Hands-on experience with major cloud providers and hybrid/multi-cloud environments.
- Advanced skills in Python, Java, or similar programming languages for cloud-native development.
- Expertise with automation tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible) and containerization platforms (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Strong understanding of DevSecOps principles and secure software development.
- Proven experience building, deploying, and supporting mission-critical cloud applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- IAM/IAT Level 3 certification (CISM, CCSP, CASP, or CISSP).
- Professional cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect).
- Experience with Zero Trust Architecture, serverless technologies, and event-driven design patterns.
- Familiarity with enterprise security frameworks and compliance standards (FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, ISO 27001)
Responsibilities:
- Researches, architects, develops, and modifies enterprise-wide systems and applications software, including DevOps, security, and data analytic solutions.
- Drives and supports system and development deployment planning, ensuring adherence to software compliance standards with a focus on integrations and data analytics.
- Implements prototypes using new technologies and innovative techniques.
- Performs ongoing maintenance and review of application systems and programs, identifies issues, and develops effective solutions.
Cloud Architecture
- Designs and implements cloud service delivery models (PaaS, IaaS, SaaS, DaaS) that meet business, security, and compliance requirements. Leads the design of reusable, scalable, and secure multi-cloud architectures.
DevSecOpsAutomation
- Implements Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, and automated configuration management using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, and GitLab. Enforces DevSecOps best practices to ensure security and compliance are integrated throughout the cloud development lifecycle.
Cloud MigrationModernization
- Analyzes existing applications to determine cloud readiness and develop tailored migration strategies. Leads cloud migration initiatives to ensure minimal disruption and maximum performance improvements.
OptimizationResiliency
- Develops strategies for failure recovery, high availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), and cost optimization. Recommends improvements to application performance, cloud spend, and scalability.
SecurityGovernance
- Collaborates with cybersecurity and compliance teams to ensure all cloud deployments meet internal and regulatory standards. Implements cloud-native security services and monitors for vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, and threats.
MentorshipTechnical Leadership
- Mentors junior and mid-level developers on cloud technologies, best practices, and solution delivery. Serves as a technical advisor to cross-functional teams and participates in enterprise-level cloud governance.
