The Lead Engineer will autonomously performs service work and preventative maintenance and repairs on specialized building systems such as mechanical, electrical/electronic, hydraulics, carpentry or critical equipment servicing. Leads and teaches other Facility Engineers, Stationary Engineers and Facility Service Associates by assigning/planning/scheduling work and reviewing quality of work performed. A Brief Overview
The Lead Engineer will autonomously performs service work and preventative maintenance and repairs on specialized building systems such as mechanical, electrical/electronic, hydraulics, carpentry or critical equipment servicing. Leads and teaches other Facility Engineers, Stationary Engineers and Facility Service Associates by assigning/planning/scheduling work and reviewing quality of work performed. What You Will Do
- Performs and oversees work orders for preventative maintenance and repairs on building systems.
- Determines the nature of the problem and ensures that repairs are completed in a timely manner.
- Performs and guides the maintenance of critical and non-critical equipment and machine incidental to system operations.
- Demonstrates effective customer service skills promoting a positive work environment and contributes to the overall team effort.
- Understands and applies all policies, procedures and standards.
- Demonstrates safe work practices and visibly leads other Associates in supporting a strong safety culture.
Education/Formal Training Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Associate's Degree Mechanics
- Associate's Degree Maintenance
- Associate's Degree Electronics
Work Experience Requirements
- 5-7 years General maintenance and operations
- 3-5 years Healthcare or medical office environment
- 1-3 years High pressure steam
Licenses And Certifications Requirements
- First-Class Steam Operating Engineer Shelby County
- First-Class Refrigeration Engineer Shelby County
- Class C Operator for Storage Tanks Tennessee Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation
- Class D Driver's License Tennessee Motor Vehicle
- EPA Universal Certification U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
- Licensed Journeyman Tennessee - Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Extensive knowledge of hospital mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
- Demonstrates knowledge of health and safety regulations, accreditation agencies, state and local regulations regarding the maintenance of buildings and systems within required for patient care.
- Good written and verbal communication.
- Ability to read and write and to communicate verbally an in writing with other individuals.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations.
- Ability to communicate verbally with co-workers.
- Ability to work from drawings, diagrams, sketches and verbal instructions.
- Ability to organize tasks and maintain control of work flow.
Supervision Provided by this Position
- Provides leadership and acts as a resource and mentor to less experienced Stationary Engineers, Facility Engineers, O&M Specialists, Technicians and Generalists.
Physical Demands
- Occasional work performed outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
- Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
- Occasional travel to other locations.
- The physical activities of this position may include squatting, bending, twisting, crawling, climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
- Must have good balance and coordination.
- The physical requirements of this position are: heavy work - exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently.
- The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
- The Associate may be required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned or to make general observations of facilities or structures.
