We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Senior Coordinator of Finance to join the Hornets Sports & Entertainment (HSE) Finance team. HSE includes the Charlotte Hornets, Greensboro Swarm, Spectrum Center Events and new business ventures. This role supports the Finance team in maintaining high standards of accuracy, efficiency and compliance with organizational policies.

You will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounts payable processes, handling vendor communications, processing payments and maintaining accurate financial records. To succeed you should possess a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting. You should be ethical, thorough and attentive with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end procure-to-pay process, from purchase requisition to vendor payment.
  • Create, review and track purchase orders to ensure accuracy and budget compliance.
  • Receive, verify and process vendor invoices, ensuring proper coding, approvals and 3-way matching.
  • Prepare and execute payments (ACH, wire, check) in line with payment terms and company policies while maintaining the highest level of accuracy and integrity.
  • Reconcile vendor accounts, resolve discrepancies and maintain accurate AP records.
  • Serve as the main contact for vendor inquiries and maintain up-to-date supplier information.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to inquiries from both internal teams and external vendors related to payables.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP and audit requirements; support internal/external audits.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations, track AP aging and assist with month-end close and accruals.
  • Maintain organized and secure records of financial transactions, invoices and related documentation for audit, reporting and process improvement purposes.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency within the AP workflow.
  • Create and maintain vendor and supplier records, ensuring all essential documents, including W-9 forms and payment information are accurately recorded.
  • Assist with routine journal entries related to bank activity to support month-end bank account reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to gather and compile data for various financial reports and analyses
  • Undertake additional tasks as required to contribute to the overall efficiency of the finance department.

Required Skills, Experience and Abilities

  • To perform the job successfully, you should demonstrate the following competencies:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years of professional experience in accounting or finance.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all financial tasks.
  • Ability to make sound, common-sense decisions independently while maintaining accountability.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration across departments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, or similar).
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive financial data.
  • Presents self in professional manner and have ability to interact with all levels of the organization and outside contacts.
  • Available to work a variable schedule, including holidays, nights, weekends, Hornets games and Spectrum events
