Austin, Texas, United States McGuire Moorman Lambert Hospitality HQ Full time $120,000 - $200,000 per year

Company Overview

MML Hospitality operates an independent, multi-brand retail portfolio that has been part of

Austin's cultural fabric since 1979. With over $10 million in annual revenue, our stores bring

together emerging and well-known luxury brands, curated for specific markets and

neighborhoods.

  • ByGeorge on Lamar is our flagship — a destination for serious shoppers seeking thoughtfully selected fashion brands.
  • Westside Market offers a more casual and cool retail mix tailored for the weekend, featuring fashion, vintage, books, and art.

This mix of concepts reflects MML's philosophy: blending design, curation, and hospitality into

distinctive retail experiences.

Position Overview

The Director of Retail Operations will lead and scale MML Hospitality's retail portfolio — currently anchored by ByGeorge and Westside Market, with plans for continued growth and new retail concepts. This role blends strategic vision with operational excellence across high-end, design-driven retail. The Director will ensure every retail concept under the MML umbrella operates seamlessly, delivers an exceptional guest experience, and reflects the company's broader philosophy of thoughtful design, curation, and hospitality. Reporting directly to Larry McGuire, this leader will partner closely with him to shape MML's long-term retail strategy and develop new concepts.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Conceptual Leadership

  • Partner directly with Larry McGuire to define and execute the retail vision for MML.
  • Lead retail growth strategy across existing concepts (ByGeorge, Westside Market) and future ventures.
  • Identify opportunities for new concepts, partnerships, and expansions in alignment with MML's brand philosophy.

Operations & Execution

  • Oversee daily operations across all retail units, ensuring consistency, profitability, and a superior customer experience.
  • Implement systems, processes, and technology to support scalable retail operations.
  • Manage supply chain, vendor relationships, inventory, and logistics across multiple formats.
  • Develop and enforce operating standards, KPIs, and service guidelines that align with MML's elevated approach to hospitality.

Merchandising & Partnerships

  • Lead product curation and merchandising strategy in collaboration with design and brand teams.
  • Build and maintain vendor, designer, and brand partnerships that reinforce MML's curated aesthetic.
  • Oversee seasonal planning, inventory management, and pricing strategy.

Financial Leadership

  • Own retail P&L across all concepts, driving revenue growth and margin improvement.
  • Develop annual budgets and sales forecasts, monitoring performance and adjusting strategies as needed.
  • Implement financial controls, loss prevention strategies, and inventory management practices.

Team Leadership & Culture

  • Recruit, train, and lead a high-performing retail team, including managers and operational staff.
  • Foster a culture of hospitality, creativity, and accountability across all retail operations.
  • Provide mentorship and growth opportunities to ensure team engagement and long-term retention.

Collaboration with Hospitality & Real Estate

  • Partner with MML's hospitality, development, and design leaders to ensure retail integrates seamlessly into mixed-use and hospitality projects.
  • Drive experiential programming, events, and activations that blend retail, dining, art, and design.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 10+ years of leadership in premium or luxury retail operations, with multi-unit oversight.
  • Proven experience in launching and scaling retail concepts.
  • Strong background in merchandising, supply chain, and vendor relations.
  • Track record of P&L ownership and delivering measurable financial results.
  • Ability to balance creative curation with operational and financial discipline.
  • Experience building and leading large, diverse teams.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Passion for design, hospitality, and creating elevated customer experiences.
  • Preferred: experience in retail within mixed-use, lifestyle, or hospitality-driven environments.
