Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our veterinary team. The ideal candidate will support veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing exceptional animal care across a variety of species, including dogs and cats. This role offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where animal welfare is the top priority. Candidates with previous veterinary experience are encouraged to apply. A strong understanding of veterinary terminology, animal handling, and aseptic techniques is essential for success in this position.

Duties

  • Assist with animal restraint and handling during examinations and procedures to ensure safety for both animals and staff
  • Support veterinary staff with medication administration, injections, and other treatments following proper protocols
  • Perform kennel duties including cleaning, feeding, and monitoring animals' health status
  • Assist with laboratory procedures such as sample collection, processing, and basic diagnostics
  • Help with front desk responsibilities such as client communication, appointment scheduling, and record keeping
  • Handle animal catheterization procedures and assist with complex medical interventions as needed
  • Provide care for a variety of animals including dogs and cats ensuring their physical needs are met according to our veterinary standards
  • Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians in outpatient appointments and surgery.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of veterinary terminology, pet care, and animal anatomy is essential
  • Experience with animal restraint techniques
  • Ability to perform medication administration accurately and safely
  • Familiarity with laboratory procedures and aseptic techniques is desirable
  • Strong animal handling skills with an emphasis on safety for both animals and staff
  • Excellent communication skills for effective front desk interactions and team collaboration
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Certification or training in veterinary assisting or related fields is advantageous

Pay: $ $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36 – 40 per week
