Overview

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Activities Director to join our team in enhancing the quality of life for our residents in an assisted living or nursing home setting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing engaging activities tailored to the interests and needs of seniors, including those with Alzheimer's, dementia, and other memory care challenges. This role requires strong communication skills and a commitment to fostering a supportive environment for residents.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive activities program that meets the diverse needs of residents.
  • Plan and coordinate events, outings, and recreational activities that promote social interaction and physical engagement.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure activities are aligned with residents' care plans and preferences.
  • Provide support in assisting residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as needed.
  • Maintain schedule management to ensure all activities are well-organized and effectively communicated to residents and staff.
  • Engage with families to encourage participation in events and gather feedback on resident interests.
  • Monitor resident participation and adapt programs based on feedback and observed needs.
  • Ensure a safe environment for all activities, adhering to best practices in caregiving and safety protocols.

Experience

  • Previous experience in event planning or recreational therapy is highly desirable.
  • Background in assisted living, nursing home experience, or long-term care is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care, or working with individuals with disabilities is essential.
  • Experience in senior care or home & community care settings is beneficial.
  • Strong communication skills are necessary for effective interaction with residents, families, and staff.
  • Knowledge of aging issues counseling or social work principles is an asset.
