SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the Bank's financial records, reporting and processes are accurate, consistent with regulatory and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and standards, adheres to tax laws and properly reflects the financial position of the Bank at time of reporting, and distributed in a manner to support the Board of Directors, Executive and Senior Management decisions regarding the Bank's goals and plans.  Provides leadership, staff growth and development, and direct supervision of the accounting department.  

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting: 

  • Responsible for preparing accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. 
  • CECL preparation and reporting

Regulatory Compliance: 

  • Ensuring that all financial reports comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant banking regulations is a core duty. This includes preparing regulatory reports such as the Consolidated Reports of Condition and Income (call reports). 

Accounting Oversight: 

  • Manages the entire accounting cycle, from transaction entry to the final closing of the books each month and quarter. This involves reconciling accounts, managing accruals, and ensuring all financial data is consolidated correctly. 
  • Oversees the review of expenditures to ensure they are properly approved, documented, and recorded.

Team Management: 

  • Leads a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient operations within the accounting department. 

Internal Controls and Risk Management

  • Designing and implementing robust internal controls.
  • Identifies and mitigates financial risks by analyzing operations for weaknesses that could lead to losses. 

Budgeting and Financial Planning

  • Leads the operating plan aspect of the annual budget. This process involves collaborating with department heads to operational revenues and expenses. 
  • Monitors and reports the budget performance throughout the year, analyzing variances between actual performance and budgeted figures.
