Position Summary

The Construction Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and ensuring the successful completion of construction projects, primarily for government clients. This role oversees all phases of the project life cycle, from pre-construction and budgeting to scheduling, execution, and closeout. The Project Manager ensures that all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget while maintaining safety, quality, and compliance with all regulatory and contractual requirements. This position is
based in or near Knoxville, Tennessee
, with
travel required to Augusta, Georgia
, as needed to support project activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee construction projects from initiation to completion, ensuring work is completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, vendors, and internal teams to maintain a clear understanding of project objectives and expectations.
  • Conduct regular client meetings to provide progress updates and address project requirements or changes.
  • Delegate project tasks based on team members' skills, experience, and workload.
  • Monitor and track project performance to ensure the successful completion of milestones and deliverables.
  • Manage project budgets, analyze financial performance, and adjust resources or schedules as needed.
  • Prepare cost estimates, identify required resources, and coordinate the procurement of equipment, materials, and subcontracted services.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, timelines, and reports to share with clients and management.
  • Lead and motivate construction teams to maintain high performance, safety, and quality standards.
  • Review and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance with design requirements.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to field staff and junior team members.
  • Proactively identify and resolve project issues, conflicts, or delays to keep projects on track.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including reports, change orders, RFIs, and daily logs.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, subcontractors, and outside partners to support successful project delivery.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with applicable safety standards, building codes, and company policies.
  • Promptly report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or incidents to management.
  • Participate in required safety briefings, training sessions, and compliance meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support project and company objectives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field (required).
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience managing construction projects, preferably within government or commercial sectors.
  • Proven ability to oversee all phases of construction, including budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and contract administration.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, cost control, and project forecasting.
  • Experience in process improvement and resource management within a construction environment.
  • PMP certification or equivalent project management credential preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project); familiarity with project management software such as Procore or similar tools is a plus.
  • Strong client-facing and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams effectively and collaborate across departments.
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
