La Causa Charter School is seeking a dependable and team-oriented Food Service Assistant to join our Meal Program team. This role is key in making sure students and staff receive healthy, high-quality meals in a clean and welcoming environment.

Your Role: As a Food Service Assistant, you will help prepare, serve, and maintain meals for students, ensuring both quality and safety. You'll work closely with the Food Service Manager and team to keep operations running smoothly and create a positive cafeteria experience for all.

What You'll Do:

  • Assist with meal preparation and service, ensuring food meets quality and freshness standards
  • Stock, arrange, and prepare food and beverages for daily service
  • Set up food carts and help with serving and cleaning up after meals
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, and orderly kitchen and cafeteria environment
  • Ensure equipment and utensils are safe, clean, and in working order
  • Complete daily safety inspections of meal delivery vehicles when needed
  • Communicate and collaborate with staff, parents, and school partners
  • Attend meetings and professional development activities as required
  • Follow all mandated reporting duties related to child safety and welfare
  • Support the team by performing additional duties as needed

What We're Looking For:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Willingness to learn food service operations and complete training
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, and walking
  • Valid Wisconsin driver's license, reliable transportation, and state-minimum auto insurance (must meet La Causa driving standards)
  • Ability to pass TB test, drug screening, physical exam, and all criminal background checks
  • Flexibility to work hours based on program needs
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude

Work Environment: Work takes place in school and daycare kitchen and cafeteria areas, with some local travel required.

The position involves physical activity such as standing, bending, reaching, lifting, and walking.
