Job Summary
The Ops Support Manager Role, reporting to the COO Airport Operations will be responsible for providing leadership support and oversight in stations that are falling below performance expectations. The role expectations may require up to 80% travel. When not performing direct responsibilities in a TDY leader capacity the position will support local operations in the home base- roughly 20% of their time. While in a Temporary Duty assignment the position may act as the primary liaison between GAT, the local customer, and any local regulatory agencies. This position requires working in a fast-paced environment often with time constraints given the nature of the assignments which often will be in station conditions that have GAT on formal notice action plans.

Responsibilities

  • Represents Operations interests in station recovery and support functions
  • Works with Performance Excellence Team Leaders to determine root cause of the need for station recovery
  • Owns the front line TDY request process and makes recommendations to SLT based on station need and financial benefit for final approval
  • Maintains TDY availability list systemwide, which is updated on a regular basis by individual stations
  • Liaises with Training, Safety, Performance Excellence, Resource Planning teams to provide the best support to individual station
  • Monitors stations and contracts, with PE Team, that may be at risk of operational difficulties
  • Attends weekly call with department heads to identify and collaborate on solutions
  • Deploys TDY members and recommends resources to course correct
  • Maintains mobility to take over station operations at risk of failing and works with RVP to institute and train new leadership
  • Other duties as assigned by manager

Skills Required
General Manager:
Responsibilities up to and including daily responsibilities of a local general manager which may include but are not limited to safety, performance management, employee engagement, issuance of progressive discipline, customer interactions, reporting, financial controls.

Communication:
Communication is the act of conveying information through verbal or nonverbal means. As an Ops Support Manager, you may be responsible for communicating with a variety of individuals, including front line leaders and staff, customers both local leaders and key operational positions, regulatory and Airport staff. Effective communication can help you to convey information clearly and to understand the needs of others.

Organization:
You must have strong organizational skills, allowing you to manage multiple projects at once. Ability to manage a operational recovery plan. Strong organizational skills will help complete tasks on time and ensure you have the information required to complete their work.

Time management:
Time management is another skill that the Ops Support Manager uses to complete their duties. They often have multiple tasks to complete in a day, so they need to prioritize their work and manage their time wisely. For example, Ops Support Managers may need to schedule meetings, make phone calls, send emails, and complete other tasks throughout the day.
