First Class Helpers is seeking compassionate and dependable Pediatric Support Specialists to provide in-home care services for children and young adults with autism and other special needs (ages 2–22). The Pediatric Support Specialist plays a vital role in supporting children's daily living skills, personal growth, and overall well-being, while also providing respite and relief for families.

This position is hands-on and requires a caring professional who is patient, reliable, and passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct in-home support to children and young adults with autism, developmental disabilities, or special needs.
  • Assist with daily living skills such as dressing, grooming, hygiene, meal preparation, and organization.
  • Support children in building independence through skill-building activities (communication, problem-solving, safety awareness, etc.).
  • Implement and reinforce behavioral strategies and care plans as outlined by therapists, parents, and the care team.
  • Provide respite care for families, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.
  • Assist with transportation to community activities, appointments, or school, when needed.
  • Document daily activities, progress, and any incidents in accordance with agency policy.
  • Collaborate with families, therapists, and other team members to ensure high-quality, consistent care.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in child development, social work, special education, or health care preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children with autism, developmental disabilities, or special needs strongly preferred.
  • Must be patient, compassionate, and adaptable to the needs of each child and family.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a home environment.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance (if providing transport).
  • Ability to pass a background check and meet state requirements for in-home caregivers.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $ $19.00 per hour
