About the role
Scope:
Reporting to the Sr. Director of Strategic Sourcing, Global Category Management, this position will lead responsible for best-practice strategic management of equipment and services spend (~$220M/year) to support our Materials Processing Facilities (MPF) and Circon Environmental Services requirements.
The Category Manager's primary responsibility is to plan, direct, and monitor procurement activities to meet standards for cost, quality, timing, reliability, and sustainability within these Business Units. Lead Regional Procurement through the development and execution of necessary annual strategic spend, savings, service plans, supplier management and supply market development covering end-to-end fulfillment of this growing segment across existing and new operating sites.
This successful candidate will partner closely with BU leadership, Category Management, and Regional Procurement team members and other key internal (HR, IT, Finance, Legal, etc.) and external stakeholders at all levels to understand and deliver on current and future operational priorities and requirements.
This position is hybrid the candidate will be based within or near one of Reworld's facilities, with travel expected up to 25%, reporting directly to the Sr. Director of Strategic Sourcing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work in a cross-functional team environment and collaborate effectively across different organizational levels, functions, businesses, and geographies to realize strategic procurement goals and objectives.
- Develop integrated strategies for all categories supporting MPF and Circon business objectives. Remain focused on utilizing and continuously improving end-to-end strategic procurement processes, managing multiple procurement engagements, planning and executing complex sourcing events and negotiating agreements of varying levels of complexity to ensure seamless and uninterrupted delivery of material supply while mitigating risks and delivering measurable cost savings and procurement effectiveness.
- Process multiple, concurrent assignments requiring strong organizational, communication, project management and business transformation, and change management skills.
- Responsible and accountable to business stakeholders to deliver and implement strategic sourcing strategies, focused on Indirect equipment and services across the entire business unit spend.
- Develop and implement strategies that optimize total cost of ownership year-over-year for assigned spend categories that achieve stated savings goals and targets.
- Develop and implement regional Category sourcing strategies and interact with regional Procurement and Operations teams to ensure alignment on key processes, strategy, and implementation.
- Develop negotiation strategies that drive stated savings goals and objectives.
- Work with business unit leadership and operations to monitor and ensure contract compliance as well as procurement policies and processes.
- Manage supplier development and relationships to ensure continuity of goods and services that meet the quality, service and price performance standards of the company.
- Participate in cross-functional teams and collaborate effectively across different organizational levels, functions, businesses, and geographies to drive procurement efficiency and effectiveness.
This Category Manager will also be expected to contribute to the broader Strategic Sourcing and supply management agenda leading process improvement and best practice conceptualization and deployment. The Category Manager should demonstrate the right values and behaviors with high emotional intelligence in working with a large and disbursed stakeholder base – often on critical schedule projects. You will interface with project "owners" across the company to budget, plan, prioritize and execute the work from a strategic sourcing perspective.
Functional Accountabilities:
In this critical role, you will take an active leadership role in delivering procurement's contribution to engineering and construction of new plants, and capital projects at existing facilities; communicate delivery of plans to leaders at all levels of the Company.
Selected Accountabilities include:
- Develop global category strategies that deliver superior quality, cost, and delivery performance. Managing Annual Operating Plan and Long-Range Strategic Plan for the selected Business Units, driving productivity ideation and implementation
- Develop and maintain a category profile, strategy and execution plans with Change Management and compliance programs. This will include Request for Proposals, RFPs, bid clarification and normalization, coordination of bid evaluations and recommendation for award.
- Waste Disposal Optimization
- Lead the development and execution of category strategies to reduce waste disposal costs across all facilities while ensuring regulatory compliance and operational reliability.
- Analyze spend, contract terms, hauling volumes, and disposal fee structures to identify cost-reduction opportunities such as route optimization, landfill fee negotiations, consolidated supplier agreements, and waste stream diversion.
- Partner with Operations, EHS, and Finance to model cost scenarios for tipping fees, transportation surcharges, equipment rental, and disposal alternatives to drive total cost-of-ownership improvements.
- Negotiate pricing, service levels, and rebate programs with hauling, recycling, and landfill providers to maximize value while maintaining quality of service.
- Implement standardized metrics and dashboards to track site-level waste volumes, diversion rates, and cost trends, enabling data-driven decision-making.
- Develop and manage a continuous improvement pipeline that leverages best practices, competitive bidding, supplier innovation, and zero-waste initiatives to achieve measurable year-over-year savings.
- Ensure all waste disposal contracts align with corporate sustainability goals, reporting requirements, and state/federal regulatory standards.
- Work with Facility Maintenance and Operations to assess current and qualify new global sources of supply on a technical and commercial basis.
- Lead the sourcing efforts and recommendation of supplier selection and management of the MPF and Circon preferred supplier list. Establishing and maintaining Vendor relationships across critical suppliers.
- Deploying dual/multi sources of supply to ensure continuity of supply of key equipment and services.
- Own all commercial aspects of Vendor relationships, leading contract negotiations and all commercial terms.
- Pursue Global Sourcing opportunities to achieve a step change in demand placed with "low-cost country sources" / high value regions of the world.
- Track and manage strategic sourcing KPIs that drives Reworld sourcing to achieve "world class" excellence.
- Drive process improvement initiatives - instituting best practices guided by an effective change management process (MoC) that delivers benchmark return on investment (ROI).
- Ensure savings initiatives spanning cost reduction, cost avoidance, revenue enhancement, rebates, working capital, etc. are accurately documented, reviewed, reported and transferred to the appropriate budgets.
Position Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in business, Finance or Engineering is required. MBA is preferred.
Experience:
10+ years of progressive contracts experience with focus on mechanical and fabricated parts and/or capital construction contracts experience. Ideally supply chain experience is preferred.

- Solid understanding of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) modeling, contracts, and change management.

The pay range for the primary location of this position is: $155, min) - $165, max) per year. The pay offered is based on factors like relevant experience, education, qualifications, certifications, skills, location, performance, internal equity, union contract (if applicable), work schedule, travel, and business needs.
