Job Overview

Perk Place Café is a locally owned Duluth favorite known for friendly service, handcrafted drinks, and from-scratch bakery items. Our hospital location inside St. Luke's Aspirus brings that same Perk Place warmth to healthcare staff, patients, and visitors.

We're looking for a dedicated, reliable, and detail-oriented Cafe Manager to lead operations at this satellite location — ensuring quality, cleanliness, and a welcoming atmosphere every day.

What You'll Be Doing

Greet customers with warmth and attention to detail. Take their orders accurately using our POS system. *All training on espresso, milk steaming, and all other drinks provided.

• Prepare and serve a variety of beverages, including espresso drinks, coffee, frappes, smoothies and tea, while adhering to food safety standards.
• Ensure all food items meet quality standards for presentation and taste.
• Maintain cleanliness in the serving area, including counters, and equipment, to provide a welcoming environment for guests.
• Handle cash & card transactions efficiently, basic math calculations.
• Provide knowledgeable recommendations on menu items to enhance the customer experience and drive sales.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations during peak hours and assist with training new staff as needed.
• Oversee inventory, communicate with our main Kenwood café for bi-weekly deliveries, and ensure the kiosk stays fully stocked
• Follow all hospital protocols and administrative requirements (including health and safety policies)
• Represent Perk Place with professionalism and positivity in a healthcare setting

What We're Looking For

• Strong multitasking and time management skills to handle a fast-paced setting
• Proven ability to self-manage, stay organized, and maintain consistency without direct supervision
• Previous experience in a café or food service environment is preferred but not required; barista experience is a plus.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with customers.
• Willingness to learn
• Basic math skills for cash handling
• Knowledge of food safety practices and food handling regulations is beneficial. Training is available.
• Ability to be on your feet, list 25+ lbs
• Reliable transportation and valid driver's license (for occasional pickup runs to Kenwood café)
• Must be able to pass hospital onboarding requirements, including annual flu vaccination or compliance with masking policy

Base Pay: Up to $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 – 35 per week
