This individual will initially train hands-on in UAV assembly and within a short period assume responsibility for leading a team of assemblers. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of both performing complex technical work and guiding others to meet production goals.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on electrical and mechanical assembly of UAVs/USVs, including wiring, component installation, composite layups, and surface preparation.
- Interpret and work from engineering drawings, work instructions, and schematics.
- Conduct in-process and final quality checks to ensure high product standards.
- Document assembly steps, update production logs, and maintain clear work instructions.
- Set up and maintain an organized, efficient, and safe work environment.
- Train, mentor, and lead a team of assemblers, ensuring quality, efficiency, on-time delivery, and clear team communication.
- Monitor production performance, quality metrics, and process compliance; address issues or deviations promptly.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering and production teams to refine assembly processes.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to streamline workflows and reduce rework.
- This role includes periodic travel (approximately 25–50%), primarily for training, coordination, and collaboration across locations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements
- Hands-on experience with electrical and mechanical assembly (UAV or aerospace experience preferred).
- IPC, J-STD, or A&P certifications a plus but not required.
- Must be able to travel to other Ideal locations for initial training and onboarding.
- Must be able to travel 25-50%
- Leadership experience preferred
- Due to federal contract requirements, candidates must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, or protected individuals as defined by 8 U.S.C. §1324b(a)(3).
- Ability to obtain a security clearance
Skill Requirements
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and assembly documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Experience leading or training others in a production or technical environment.
- Strong planning, problem-solving, interpersonal, and conflict management skills.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Physical Requirements
- Must have the ability to lift and/or carry 45 lbs.
- Ability to work for extended periods at computer workstation/keyboard.
- Ability to type accurately and efficiently.
- The position will require walking, standing, squatting, crouching, stooping, lifting, climbing, pulling, pushing, sitting, repetitive motion and kneeling.
