Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Manual Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge and proficiency in precision machining processes. This role involves operating various machine tools, interpreting technical drawings, and ensuring the production of high-quality components. The Manual Machinist will play a critical part in maintaining manufacturing excellence and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within our facility.

Duties

  • Operate manual and CNC machining equipment, including CNC lathes and milling machines, with precision and adherence to specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T standards to produce accurate parts.
  • Program CNC machines using CAM programming software such as Fanuc controls, ensuring optimal machining processes.
  • Perform setup, calibration, and maintenance of machining tools and equipment, including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, tooling, and welding equipment to assemble components as required.
  • Conduct quality inspections using coordinate measuring machines (CMM), dial indicators, and other measurement tools to verify dimensions.
  • Apply electrical discharge machining (EDM) techniques when necessary for complex or hard materials.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area following safety protocols and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Support manufacturing processes involving plastics injection molding or other specialized fabrication methods as needed.
  • Assist with troubleshooting machine issues and implementing process improvements for efficiency.

Experience

  • Proven experience as a Manual Machinist or in a similar manufacturing role with hands-on operation of CNC and manual machine tools.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages such as G-code (Fanuc preferred) and CAM software.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, GD&T standards, and mechanical drawings.
  • Familiarity with electrical discharge machining (EDM), coordinate measuring machines (CMM), bore gauges, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measurement instruments.
  • Experience working with CNC milling machines and lathes, especially Fanuc controls.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes including plastics injection molding, welding, assembly, and tooling setup.
  • Basic math skills essential for precise measurements and calculations related to machining tasks.
  • Ability to operate forklifts or other material handling equipment is a plus.
