Job Title: Data Cable Installer
Department: Low Voltage / Structured Cabling
Reports To: Lead Technician or Project Manager
Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in structured cabling or low-voltage installation
Position Summary:
The Data Cable Installer is responsible for installing, routing, and securing low-voltage cabling in commercial environment. This position requires strong knowledge of cable pulling techniques, the ability to read and interpret blueprints, and experience working with Category 6 (CAT6) network cabling. The ideal candidate works effectively in a team environment, follows direction from lead technicians, and maintains high standards of safety and workmanship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pull, route, and label CAT6 and other low-voltage cables according to project specifications and industry standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and cable routing plans.
- Assist with terminating and testing network cables under supervision of lead technicians.
- Install cable pathways, racks, conduits, and j-hooks.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment throughout each project.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and company standards.
- Support project leads in completing installations on schedule and within scope.
- Identify potential issues or conflicts in cable paths and report them promptly.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in cable pulling or low-voltage installation.
- Proficient in reading blueprints and cable layout diagrams.
- Hands-on experience with CAT6 or other structured cabling systems.
- Familiar with tools and materials used in cable pulling (fish tape, rods, ladders, lifts, etc.).
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work on ladders or lifts.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and teamwork skills.
- Reliable transportation required.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):
- Basic cable termination and testing skills.
