Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support and care to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their well-being and enhancing their quality of life. Your responsibilities will include assisting with daily living activities, promoting independence, and fostering a supportive environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in caregiving and a strong commitment to helping others.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation
  • Provide patient care and support in various settings including group homes, assisted living facilities, and home care environments
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and overall health status, reporting any changes to the appropriate personnel
  • Implement care plans tailored to each individual's needs while adhering to HIPAA regulations
  • Engage clients in social activities and community integration to promote social skills and independence
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties as needed
  • Assist with medication administration as directed by healthcare professionals
  • Provide support for individuals with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, autism, or other developmental disabilities
  • Utilize equipment such as Hoyer lifts for safe patient transfers when necessary
  • Document patient observations accurately and maintain confidentiality at all times

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in direct support or caregiving roles is preferred, particularly in home health, hospice care, or long-term care settings
  • Knowledge of first aid and CPR certification is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with patient monitoring techniques and vital sign assessment
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting clients with mobility needs
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with clients, families, and team members
  • Understanding of care plans and the ability to follow them diligently
  • Compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others improve their quality of life
  • Experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities or special needs is a plus
