​Painter Helper Position - Immediate Opening

​We are seeking a reliable and motivated Painter Helper to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual eager to learn the trade and advance quickly based on performance and work quality.

​Schedule and Compensation

​Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday. Occasional Saturday work may be required to meet project deadlines.

​Starting Pay: $15 per hour to begin.

​Advancement: Significant and rapid pay increases are available for individuals who consistently demonstrate high-quality work and a strong work ethic. Our lead painter maintains a tight, efficient schedule, and exceptional performance will be recognized and rewarded quickly.

​Key Responsibilities

​The primary role of the Painter Helper is to assist the Lead Painter and ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and to the highest standard. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

​Following all instructions and directions given by the Lead Painter.

​Assisting with job site preparation (e.g., masking, scraping, sanding, cleaning).

​Handling materials and equipment.

​Maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

​Quality Assurance: The Main Goal

​Consistent quality is paramount to our success. We expect the Painter Helper to contribute to this by:

​Executing all prep and paint tasks with precision and attention to detail.

​Proactively seeking instruction and clarity to ensure tasks meet the required standards.

​Taking pride in their work and striving for flawless results on every project

​I. Surface Preparation (The Foundation)

​The goal of prep work is to ensure the surface is clean, smooth, and ready to accept paint for a lasting, professional finish.

​Cleaning:

​Remove all dirt, dust, and debris from surfaces (walls, trim, doors) using a duster, damp rag, or shop vacuum.

​Wipe down surfaces with a mild cleaner (like TSP substitute) if they are greasy or very dirty, then rinse and allow to dry completely.

​Minor Repairs:

​Use a 5-in-1 tool or putty knife to scrape off any loose or peeling paint.

​Fill small holes, dents, or cracks with spackle or wood filler.

​Allow filler to dry completely as per product instructions.

​Protecting the Area:

​Cover all floors with drop cloths, ensuring there are no gaps for spills.

​Carefully move and cover large furniture or items that cannot be removed from the room.

​II. Sanding

​Sanding is crucial for creating a smooth substrate and helping the new paint adhere well.

​Sanding Spackle/Filler: Once dry, sand all spackled and filled areas until they are perfectly flush and smooth with the surrounding surface. Use a medium-grit sandpaper (around grit).

​General Surface Sanding: Lightly scuff-sand glossy surfaces (like trim or cabinets) with fine-grit sandpaper grit) to dull the sheen and create a "tooth" for the primer/paint.

​Dust Control: After all sanding is complete, vacuum and wipe down all surfaces (walls, baseboards, window frames) to remove all sanding dust. Use a tack cloth as the final step to pick up any remaining fine particles.

​III. Caulking

​Caulking seals gaps and cracks to prevent moisture intrusion and give the paint line a seamless appearance.

​Prep the Gaps: Ensure the areas to be caulked are clean and dry.

​Application: Apply a smooth, continuous bead of paintable caulk into gaps, especially where trim meets the wall (e.g., baseboards, door frames, window casings).

​Smoothing: Tool the caulk immediately with a moistened fingertip, a caulk tool, or a damp cloth to push the caulk into the gap and create a smooth, clean line.

​Curing: Allow the caulk to cure completely according to the manufacturer's instructions before applying paint.

​IV. Taping Off (Masking)

​Taping ensures crisp, straight paint lines and protects surfaces that are not being painted.

​Selecting Tape: Use a high-quality painter's tape (like blue or green tape) suitable for the duration of the project.

​Applying Tape: Press the tape firmly onto surfaces that need protection, such as:

​Ceilings (where they meet the wall).

​Floors/Carpet (along baseboards).

​Window glass and trim edges.

​Door hinges and hardware.

​Creating a Seal: After applying the tape, run a putty knife or 5-in-1 tool firmly along the edge to seal it and prevent paint bleed.

​Applying Plastic/Paper: Attach masking film, plastic sheeting, or paper to protect larger adjacent areas (e.g., cabinets, non-removable light fixtures, large you're ready to primer and paint
