Data Analyst – Accounting/Finance

Location: Downers Grove, IL (hybrid; onsite Tues-Thurs)

Reports to: Group Controller

Position Overview:

Trillium Foods is seeking a Data Analyst to support the Finance and Accounting teams through accurate data analysis, insightful reporting, and continuous process improvement.

This role plays a critical part in enhancing the accuracy, efficiency, and transparency of financial data across the organization. The ideal candidate has a strong analytical mindset, exceptional attention to detail, and experience working with accounting systems and reporting tools.

Reporting to the Group Controller, The Data Analyst will collaborate closely with Accounting, FP&A, and Operations teams to ensure timely, accurate, and actionable financial reporting that drives informed business decisions.

This position is based at Trillium Foods' headquarters in Downers Grove, IL.

Key Responsibilities:

Essential Duties:

  • Analyze and reconcile large financial data sets across systems to ensure accuracy and consistency in accounting and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain accounting dashboards and automated reports (e.g., expense tracking, accrual monitoring, variance analysis).
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities by validating data and preparing reports for journal entries, reconciliations, and audits.
  • Partner with Accounting and Finance teams to streamline data collection, reporting, and consolidation processes.
  • Identify and resolve data discrepancies through detailed analysis and root-cause investigation.
  • Assist in standardizing and documenting accounting and reporting procedures to improve efficiency and reduce manual workload.
  • Extract, organize, and analyze data from NetSuite, Planful, Excel, and other systems for ad hoc financial and operational analysis.
  • Own and maintain master data accuracy across systems, ensuring consistent setup, governance, and ongoing integrity of key data elements such as customers, vendors, items and chart of accounts.
  • Collaborate with IT and systems teams to improve reporting tools, data accuracy, and system functionality.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statement structures.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data modeling; macros a plus).
  • Experience working with NetSuite or a similar ERP system.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to present complex data in a clear, actionable format for non-financial audiences.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, or similar BI/reporting tools is a plus.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in accounting data analysis, financial reporting, or a related role.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or CPG environment preferred.
